Trevor was one sly mafia fox with a brave heart. Many would rather choose between being a lover or a fighter, but this dude went for both every single time. He was a very decisive person who never abused his powers, but God help anyone who as much as hurt his woman and soon to be kids in anyway. Diana was similar to Trevor in so many ways and was valued by the people in Trevor's inner circle, especially her potential father-in-law. She wasn't giggly, naive, or stupid and knew how to take care of business. But what happens when things starts to go wrong; would love be enough for them? Or would they bow to the pressure from the heavens?

Chapter 1 Grainger and Trevor

"Hey, assilicious!"

The loud, grainy, boisterous voice of Grainger rung out in the near empty neighborhood of Sorona with more than half the occupants off to either school, work, or wherever the good Lord's spirit led them.

Although it was a really beautiful and quite peaceful neighborhood with well-manicured lawns-the kind that'd give you happy dreams, it just wasn't exactly the perfect place to raise a kid. Especially the great kind. The crime rate was as low as it could be, everyone was their brother's keeper, and there were Samaritans peppered around, but not when the trouble got real, because then it was every man to himself. Added to that, the grown kids had probably read one too many James Hardley Chase novels to be grounded in reality.

So no, no one was there to ask him to tone it down or put him and his little band of wannabe goons in their places and the available ones were too busy being busy to get involved.

It wasn't as though anyone would have interfered even when it was full anyway, it was also a mind your business kind of neighborhood and Grainger was one of the wolves lurking around it-or so he thought.

Dude wasn't one of the smartest. Hell, he wasn't even one of the smart ones-not street smart or book smart, one could say he was just the son of a tycoon who only existed and occupied space on God's green earth.

The guy couldn't identify the alphabets even if they were written on a billboard and pasted on his forehead or his life depended on it. By some stroke of luck and heaven's will-his late mother's gene, he turned out to be one hell of a handsome hunk, without the brains to compliment it though- or the brawns to keep it from getting beaten to mush for that matter.

He tended to mask his inadequacies with a loud mouth which ended right there... in his mouth, just so he wouldn't get bullied. His father's fat purse and deep wallet paved the way to make that dream a reality too, as well as his status as Khalid's son.

Trevor Jamil, who was the recipient of the taunt, simply walked on ignoring the sniggers of Grainger and his boys.

Now Trevor, on the other hand, was the stark opposite of Grainger, they were as different as the day was from the night. Trevor had the smarts, both street and book, but he was just too lazy to flaunt them or try to impress with them.

The girls all loved him but knew his sexual orientation was cross-eyed-or so they thought. He was far from being dumb and soft like he acted, but for some reason best known to him, kept the act. If looks could strip, the girls would have stripped away his clothes and left him bare to their hungry eyes cause-why on earth would God give everything in the looks department to just one son of Zion?... Not to mention that he was "the" Jamil's son.

Hardcore business tycoon/rumoured mafia boss of the Scorpio gang, which happened to be the top gun of Sorona-Jamil. The guy was literally swimming in money but acted like he didn't give two fucks about it, he never acted like he was royalty by default and neither did he act like he wasn't royalty by default.

One thing about Trevor is the fact that he's a straight shooter and could analyze a person straight up without talking with the person, but when he did-it would be as though he could tell all about the person and what that person was capable of.

He knew about the thoughts going on in the minds of the women around him, alright, both the younger and older ones, so he came up with the story of being gay and topped it all by supposedly dating Peter. But they both knew that farce was nothing more than a lie, a lie that dug into Peter every time someone expressed envy over their being a couple. So Peter chose to throw being the bigger person aside and pick on Trevor. Not like Trevor cared anyway, cause he knew how much he hurt Peter who was as straight as a con man could be.

Peter was only the son of one of his father's workers. The man was good enough and honest to God, but Peter was another bad egg wannabe who was happy dragging his father's name in the mud. Not like that did much to the man's reputation, everyone knew that "Samuel was solid and right as rain, although it was a shame he had Peter as a son.".

Grainger was Peter's best friend and they always did stuff like this to Trevor each time they saw him, getting physical even, any day they decided to let good ol' Lucifer make use of them. But he was so used to it that it had become stale to him, so much so that he had become immune to the insults as well.

"How's the ass hole hanging in right there assilicious?" Another voice rang out. It was Peter this time around, the supposed "ex-boyfriend" of Trevor. Sure, the two were supposed to be a thing, but see Trevor, being the red-blooded all rounder male with a hard-on for the opposite sex and boy-did he make good use of that hard-on when he let himself loose, shook himself off the noose he tied himself with.

He'd always believed he'd hang himself whenever he felt like it, and no one had the right to-unless, of course, he gave that right out, which he never planned on doing. Come hell or high water.

Seeing he was ignored, Grainger began walking towards Trevor in threatening strides and an evil grin which gave the impression that Trevor was in for some quality-time bullying, with Peter and the rest of his boys in tow. About five of them all together.

He walked up to Trevor and roughly yanked his shirt from behind, "when I talk to you, you stand with your head down like the cock sucker you are boy," he growled and pushed Trevor on his chest, his eyes slightly widened at the feel of Trevor's well defined and hard muscles under his shirt before masking it-an act which didn't get by Trevor's sharp and quick eyes. To put up appearances however, Trevor staggered back two steps and eyed Peter, who was laughing like he found everything funny.

Of course Trevor knew they were coming, he knew Grainger wouldn't rest till he responded, but the thing was that he was too lazy to give a rat ass about them this cold morning and he had to drop off someplace before going to work.

Work-that concept both annoyed and intrigued him as well as stressed him out. He had only worked at his father's company ever since he graduated oxford, a school he despised but attended for his late mother's sake cause he made a promise and he was never one to break it even when it turned out difficult to keep.

But his dear father suddenly thought it'd be fun to have him work at a bar in order to gain working experience and put himself in his employees' shoes-whatever that meant. The good Lord knew those shoes were too small for him to put his toes in, let alone an entire foot because he planned on conquering the world with his ailing body one way or the other, but he did mentally agree that he needed the experience to see how other people lived on a low budget that was next to nothing in the ever inflating economy

But then again, he owed Peter one. So if bullying him would help him get over his disappointment and sleep well at night, then he'd let the guy knock himself out, deceiving himself that he was bullying Trevor Jamil. Although he had to admit that the whole thing was beginning to get on his nerves because he hated bullying of any kind the most after his best friend lost his life to a bully after keeping it to himself for years.

"Are you deaf?!" Grainger barked, glowering at Trevor and bringing him out of his mind-scape, something he had caught himself doing often lately ever since he got that damned diagnosis. The action made Grainger's muscles tense underneath his t-shirt making Trevor wonder if he was on some sort of steroid given his brash attitude, then he lazily turned to Peter.

"Would you call off your dog or do I do it for you?" He asked, looking pointedly at him.

"Did you hear that Grainger?" Peter turned to Grainger, "He called you a dog." He added, trying to hide a satisfied grin from lighting up his face, obviously trying to fuel Grainger into getting worked up, which worked actually. Considering that the guy was all mouth and no brains, although he'd like to think he was very smart.

"I hear him alright." Grainger replied, "which is why I'd like to show fag boy here how dogs bite" he threatened, turning to Trevor as he held his hands out to grab at Trevor who ducked as he rolled his eyes.

"Ooh... Look who's got some fancy moves." The boys with Grainger hooted and teased, laughing at Trevor. "Too bad he's only got cocky moves." Another added and the rest went wild with laughter.

Grainger smiled evilly and tried to grab at Trevor again when the voice of a girl rang out.

"Were you deaf or didn't you hear him ask you to call off your dogs Peter?" She asked with raised brows and a cocky expression.

This was Diana alright, she was well known for talking with her fists when she was pissed. She had a short fuse when it came to her temper and her brother was known for being the life saver of about sixty people when a boat capsized in the lake he usually went fishing with, with his younger sister before he drowned himself, because he had lost so much strength swimming to and fro trying to save everyone just when he was trying to go save the last person who survived anyway.

She was the dream girl of many guys, some even went on to say she was created on the seventh day which God rested- because she was perfect in every way. From pearly white teeth covered up with seemingly pouting full lips to an hourglass figure that'd make Eve proud of her descendants.

She was well respected in the city although she was determined not to be a good doer like her brother-which went unsuccessfully most of the time. Cause she always gets pulled in into other people's problems, like right now.

"This isn't a karaoke, Diana, and we aren't singing here, it's a guys thing" Peter said haughtily, "although I wouldn't mind letting him go while you and I go to some place nice and get to know each other better" he continued with a leacherous expression on his face.

"Don't try yourself peanut balls, besides you haven't got what it takes to roll with me dumb-dumb" she said, slowly walking forward, her gaze lingering on all of them, one after the other, the epitome of grace, poise and beauty.

She stopped right in front of Grainger and Peter, shielding Trevor in the process as she smiled and studied her nails. "However, I'd give you guys three minutes to get lost and act like this little spat never happened." She added with a soft smile which made one feel like they were being slowly coiled by a hypnotizing snake, glancing at them with a cold smile, her eyes landing on Grainger which gave him the chills.

"What if we don't?" He stubbornly asked taking a step forward to stand toe-to-toe with her. She smiled and threw a hard punch at his face catching him off guard and making him fall on the rest of the boys behind him. They broke his fall and glared at her seething with fury while Trevor cocked a brow in surprise, a small smile playing on his lips.

"You don't seem to get the memo hulky, I do the bullying around here and not the other way round. So if I say we're done here, it means we're done." She said with an air of finality.

Grainger picked himself up nursing his badly aching jaw while stepping back, he knew he daren't lay hands on the city's sweetheart-the witch would beat him black and blue before he even attempted it.

"I'll let you go this time" he spat out at Trevor to save face, but who would have thought that Trevor would wink at him and keep a straight face as Diana turned to look at him, ignoring Grainger and the others who had begun heading back to whatever hole they slunk out from without daring to look back.

She turned on her heels and began leaving as well while Trevor turned to stare at her with beautifully lined furrowed brows.

"You're coming or you'd rather wait for them to come back after I'm gone?" She asked over her shoulder without a pause.

"Right. Coming, definitely." Trevor said with a small smile she didn't notice as he sprinted after her and began walking by her side, stealing glances at her every now and then.
