My Ex Wants It After the Divorce Chapter 1 1

"I'm sorry, but we don't hire women over 30 here," the restaurant manager told Liana impatiently as he shooed her away.

As Liana walked away apathetically, she heard the manager murmur softly: "Who would want to patronize my business if I had an ugly old waitress?"

Liana frowned slightly. She thought about turning around and telling the manager that she was only 25 years old!

However, she restrained herself when she saw her reflection in the window next to her.

Her face had lost its youth and the glow that once decorated her eyes had long since faded.

An emaciated frame, dry hair, a wrinkled face, and outdated clothes added at least 10 years to her appearance.

She realized that she had become an old woman in recent years...even though she was only 25!

Liana smiled bitterly as the hardships of the past few years flooded her mind. As she dragged her tired body away from the scene, she noticed a car stopping behind her.

The arrival of a Maybach car did not go unnoticed by the restaurant manager.

"President White, welcome," the manager said obsequiously. Liana stopped abruptly in her tracks.

"Edward, can you accompany me to buy clothes after this? Today is the new arrival date for the Chanel counter," Betina said quietly as they got out of the car. Her hands were around Edward's arm, who just looked at her and replied with a simple "okay".

The single syllable froze Liana to the ground! Before she could stop herself, her head turned slowly... and her eyes fell on Edward's beautiful face!

It had to be him... Liana couldn't have predicted that this was how they would meet after their divorce 3 years ago.

She was so down, so out of luck. He was still her controlled self, far above the ranks of the commoners.

Betina next to him was also as elegant and dignified as she was 3 years ago. The two ended up staying together.

So, again, with her out of the picture, was it really a surprise?

"Liana?" Edward said when he saw her. Disbelief was clearly written in her eyes.

Betina's expression changed slightly and she choked: "Oh my God, is it really you, Liana? What happened to you?"

Liana snapped out of her daze. She quickly turned her head, muttering: "You've got the wrong person!"

Hurriedly, she turned to escape.

There was no way she could face them both today. No woman would be willing to face her rich ex-husband and her beautiful loving ex-rival in such an abject state. Especially after the two of them were together!

The comparison between winner and loser was all too obvious.

Edward caught up with Liana on the run, shouting: "Liana, stop right there!"

The moment his hand grabbed her arm, she screamed as if she had been poked by pins: "Let me go! I'm not Liana, I really am not!"

She was completely focused on her struggles to get away from Edward and didn't notice that a car was speeding down the road. Finally, she struggled to free herself and ran down the road.

"Liana, be careful!"Edward shouted, but it was already too late. The car hit Liana, and caused her to hit her head and was knocked out instantly.

She descended into a long dream... She dreamed of everything that happened before she turned 19. The memories she thought she had lost came back to her.

She realized that the Liana of the past was no softy; she would not have ended up in such a miserable state. She was once the pride of her family... but now... Reflecting on the adversity she was forced to endure, tears of sadness rolled down her face.

"The patient is still unconscious, but her condition has almost stabilized." She suffered a minor concussion to the head, but a week or two of rest should be enough to get her back on her feet.

However, she will need some supplements due to a long period of malnutrition...

Inside the hospital room, the doctor explained Liana's physical condition in detail to Edward.

The statuesque man frowned slightly. How could Liana be suffering from prolonged malnutrition? Edward turned his head to look at Liana, just in time to notice the tears streaming down the aging face of his ex-wife... His eyes trembled slightly as a cocktail of emotions surged in his heart.

Liana, what kind of life have you been living after our divorce? Simultaneously, Betina , who was standing next to Edward, also looked at Liana as she nurtured her own thoughts.

She looked at the woman who had once been with Edward, but was eventually thrown out by her; she was overjoyed. Her heart soared as she witnessed the miserable state Liana had fallen into.

Liana, you lost to me once...you will fare worse now that you are old and ugly. I can barely muster the energy to deal with you. I'm sure you'll wither away like the trash you've become.

After all, even for an idiot, the choice between a beautiful woman and an old beggar would be exceptionally easy. Betina might have reservations against a young and beautiful Liana, but now... These thoughts brightened Betina's mood so much that she was feeling gracious for her former rival.

She nudged Edward and said softly: " Edward, don't worry, I'm sure Liana will be fine. How about we find a private nurse for her, or better yet, leave some money for her. I believe that's what she needs most right now ." Edward looked at his fiancée and nodded slightly.

"Edward, it's very late. We still have a family dinner to attend later to discuss our upcoming nuptials. Shouldn't we go?" Betina said, and Edward then realized that such an event was indeed on his itinerary.

Since the divorce, he had not been looking for a new wife, but as the only male heir of the White Family, he had had to marry to ensure that the White name would survive.

Betina was his childhood friend. The entire White Family was in love with her; her good looks and intellect were also definite advantages. Therefore, after Edward's divorce was finalized, the two families tried to bring the two together. Edward was warm to Betina , but he was not in love with her. Then again, there was not a single woman he was in love with.

Even his marriage to Liana was not out of love, for it was an arranged marriage.

To him, as long as his wife was biologically female, he was fine with anyone who filled the position.

His indifference only deepened after his failed marriage to Liana. He shrugged and agreed with indifference when his family brought up the idea of marrying Betina . And tonight was a dinner between the two families to discuss their marriage. In fact, that morning they went out looking for a restaurant to host their wedding reception and buy dresses... Who knew they stumbled upon Liana.

The ex-wife he hadn't met in three years.

Truth be told, Edward once wondered under what circumstances they would meet again, but none of the scenarios in his mind could fit today's bizarre event.

She was the ex-wife of the White family, how could she have fallen into such a deplorable state? He remembers leaving her a considerable amount of alimony after the divorce. The amount should have been more than enough for her to live the rest of her life in luxury, so why did he find her in such a situation? That question had been clogging his mind since he left the hospital.

"Edward, what do you have in mind?"Betina asked curiously, to which Edward replied dryly: "Nothing serious."

"You're thinking about Liana, aren't you?"Betina sighed: "I couldn't believe it was the same Liana we saw upstairs. Why did she choose to live like this when she has the resources for a better life? Why is she so dense?"Dense... this was exactly how Edward pictured Liana.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

I received a pornographic video. "Do you like this?" The man speaking in the video is my husband, Mark, whom I haven't seen for several months. He is naked, his shirt and pants scattered on the ground, thrusting forcefully on a woman whose face I can't see, her plump and round breasts bouncing vigorously. I can clearly hear the slapping sounds in the video, mixed with lustful moans and grunts. "Yes, yes, fuck me hard, baby," the woman screams ecstatically in response. "You naughty girl!" Mark stands up and flips her over, slapping her buttocks as he speaks. "Stick your ass up!" The woman giggles, turns around, sways her buttocks, and kneels on the bed. I feel like someone has poured a bucket of ice water on my head. It's bad enough that my husband is having an affair, but what's worse is that the other woman is my own sister, Bella. ************************************************************************************************************************ "I want to get a divorce, Mark," I repeated myself in case he didn't hear me the first time-even though I knew he'd heard me clearly. He stared at me with a frown before answering coldly, "It's not up to you! I'm very busy, don't waste my time with such boring topics, or try to attract my attention!" The last thing I was going to do was argue or bicker with him. "I will have the lawyer send you the divorce agreement," was all I said, as calmly as I could muster. He didn't even say another word after that and just went through the door he'd been standing in front of, slamming it harshly behind him. My eyes lingered on the knob of the door a bit absentmindedly before I pulled the wedding ring off my finger and placed it on the table. I grabbed my suitcase, which I'd already had my things packed in and headed out of the house.

I arrived at my uncle’s mansion looking like human trash, clutching a one-way bus ticket and a duffel bag stuffed with old newspaper. My aunt looked at me with pure disgust, as if she could smell the poverty on my skin, but they needed me for one thing: to be a sacrificial lamb. They told me I was getting married to Julian Sterling, a man the elite circles called a violent monster locked in a cage. My uncle forced me to sign away my soul to save their failing fortune, while my cousin Kayla laughed and threw a torn dress at my feet, calling me a "rat from the Rust Belt." At the Sterling estate, the nightmare only deepened. Julian’s stepmother treated me like a horse she was forced to buy, ordering the staff to "burn off" my hair before locking me in the West Wing. I was thrown into a padded cell with a man who lunged at me, his heavy chains rattling against the floor as he roared with an animalistic rage that had already killed two nurses. They thought I was a pathetic, uneducated girl who "didn't read so good." They didn't know I had extorted two million dollars from my uncle before walking out the door, or that I was secretly recording every slap and insult they threw at me for future leverage. I huddled in the corner of that dark cell, letting them watch me tremble on the security feeds. I let Julian’s sister strike me with a riding crop and splash water in my face, playing the role of the clumsy, sobbing idiot to perfection. But the moment the cameras looped, the scared girl vanished. I pinned the "monster" to the floor, cut the neural tracking chip out of his neck with a hidden scalpel, and whispered into his ear as his blue eyes finally cleared. They thought they were sending a lamb to the slaughter. They had no idea they were sending a wolf to hunt a beast.

I went to the New York City Clerk's office to handle a simple administrative matter, but the woman behind the glass handed me a nightmare instead. It was a certified marriage license from Clark County, Nevada, filed exactly three months ago. My vision blurred as I read the name in the spouse field: Baxter Noel. I was legally married to the ruthless billionaire whose legal team was currently suing me for intellectual property theft and trying to destroy my career. I remembered the conference in Las Vegas and a drink that tasted far too sweet, followed by a twelve-hour black hole in my memory that I had chalked up to exhaustion. When I sought help at my family's estate, my stepmother and sister didn't offer comfort; they stole my passport, shredded my clothes, and framed me for academic plagiarism to strip away my university fellowship. Even Baxter himself looked me in the eye with cold indifference, claiming he didn't know me and promising to have me arrested for fraud if I ever showed him that document again. Within twenty-four hours, I was homeless, jobless, and being hunted by the most powerful man in the city. I couldn't understand why a man who "eats people for breakfast" would be caught in the same trap as a struggling scientist like me. The confusion turned to pure terror when I looked at the witness signature on the license: Gene Mcclain. My mother, who was supposed to have died in a car crash ten years ago, had signed that paper with a fresh, trembling hand only ninety days ago. "I am holding a grenade, and I have no idea when the pin was pulled." Standing in the biting November wind with nothing but a laptop and a marriage license, I realized I was just a pawn in a much deadlier game. I stopped running and began to fight back, determined to use my unwanted status as the billionaire's wife to uncover the truth about the mother who came back from the dead.
