Chapter 1 One

Trina's P.O.V

My eyes fluttered open, and rays of light pierced through my eyelids as I squinted. Before my eyes adjusted to the light, I blinked a few times. I looked around, scanning the unfamiliar surroundings. This environment was unfamiliar to me. What am I doing here? I was perplexed.

The only sounds I could hear, surrounded by green trees, were chirping birds, crickets, and the rustling of leaves. I knew I was in a forest based on these details, which was strange because the last thing I remember is the pain in my protruding stomach sucking the life out of me. The room was spinning, and Alice was beside me, a worried expression on her face.

"Trina, Trina!"

She kept calling out my name, and I wanted to say something but couldn't because I was coughing up blood. At certain times, not even a sound would come out of me.Then everything faded away; I couldn't hear Shakira voice or my own constant coughing. My vision was dotted with dark spots until everything went dark, and that was the end of it.

I thought I was poisoned to death, I thought I had lost my baby, I thought it was over.

Within a blink of an eye, I woke up here, in the woods.

Wait! My baby...

I hurriedly touched my tummy; it was flat, as if there had never been another life in it. That's when I noticed a change in my skin tone. My skin was paler and thinner than usual, and I had a thin scar on my left palm that I had never seen before.

What exactly is going on? I inquired despite the fact that no one was present.

"Here is your second chance to make things different dear Trina" My ears were filled with the sound of a woman's voice. It was soothing and almost seemed to be carried by the wind.

"Show your face! Who's there?" I asked without missing a beat as I made a fist and took a protective stance. I turned around and scanned the area keenly. I may not have a wolf but I had keen eyes and super hearing abilities like all supernaturals.

"But I am your wolf, my name is Nanisca" Her voice sounded again.

I turned around more quickly this time desperately trying to find the source to the woman's voice.

"Lies... It's not possible for me to have a wolf. It's a known fact. You don't need to deceive me, everyone knows that. I'm the Alpha's daughter without a wolf. So you better show yourself now and stop hiding like a coward" I said, raising my voice hoping to sound a little more intimidating.

"Okay" She said with a hint of amusement in her voice.

I looked around again, my heart beating wildly against my chest as I waited for her to show herself. Just then, I felt something itching at the back of my mind. It was scratching and howling fiercely. I was starting to sweat as I felt my temperature rise like I was having a fever. After a few seconds, It stopped and prowled forward and that's when I felt it. I felt something like a million needles pricking my skin from inside. It was so painful that my knees gave way and I screamed.

"Relax Trina, it will be over soon. It's your first shift, that's why it hurts so much" Nanisca's soothing voice said, only calming me a little.

"First shift?" In between screams, I inquired. My entire body felt like it was on fire while also being frozen with ice. As strands of hair pierced through my skin, a mixture of sweat and blood trickled out.

I knew what the first shift meant; it was a werewolf's first transformation into a wolf. It was most common in wolves over the age of 13. Even though I never went through it myself, I witnessed many young wolves at my father's pack go through it. Was she really right? Do I have a wolf now?

"Yes, Trina, you do. Now brace up, this is going to hurt like a bitch" She said as she growled and nudged forward.

I was about to say something when I felt another wave of pain crash down on me. The fur on my body had grown more prominent, as had the furnace of fire I felt within. I ripped off my clothes quickly, not caring about anything but relieving my heat.

The first bone to break was my hands and feet, my cries echoed throughout the forest as I fell completely flat on the ground. The pain I felt was unbearable as claws protruded painfully out of my fingers and toes. My eyes leaked hot tears and my vision was beginning to blur. I tried to do the breathing routine I saw parents tell their pups to do while shifting in the pack. Constant inhaling and exhaling helped me feel a drop of my sanity slipping back in. Just as I was about to breathe out in relief when a truckload of pain rocketed through me. My arms broke followed by my legs, with no space in between, my ribs caved in and my spine shattered. A lot was happening that I couldn't catch a breath. Dark spots were starting to litter my vision and dizziness started to weigh in.

"I'm begging you. I don't think I can't do this... make it stop please, it's hurting so damn much" I begged, my voice barely a whisper and my face sticky with tears and dirt. I was tired, I wanted to sleep. At that moment, even death was an option. It felt like a luxury... anything to take this pain away.

"No,Trina. You don't give up. You will grit your teeth and pull through this because we are not weak... not anymore" Her voice sounded like thunder in my ears, jolting me from the sleep that wanted to pull me away.
