Chapter 1 Sweet sister

The atmosphere was warm that night and the moon shone brightly on the grande castle of the Dawn Mist Pack. The Dawn Mist Pack was one of the strongest and most powerful pack in all of the werewolf land. In this grande castle of theirs, the noble men and women of the pack gathered around a round table, chattering indistinctly, they were about to hold a meeting.

Alpha Gavin, the leader of the pack, sat on the highest chair on the table but he was looking distraught as a myriad of thoughts was running through his head. His oldest daughter, his firstborn was not present for the meeting, and he'd warned her never to be absent from meetings! She needed to be there to learn new things and to monitor the affairs of the pack but she had proven countless times that she didn't care about the pack and this bothers the Alpha.

Alpha Gavin was a mighty and powerful ruler, but this daughter of his would make it appear to the council that he had no control of his over children. He gazed at the door expecting it to open with Charlotte walking inside but there was nothing. "Why is this girl being irresponsible" The Alpha wondered "why won't she turn a new leaf?" The council members were still chattering away absentmindedly giving him the chance to signal to his younger daughter, the diligent one.

Neveah registered the sign, rose to her feet instantly and walked to her father, bending over the table and positioning her ears to his lips

"where is your sister" he asked in a whisper, "doesn't she know it's time for meeting"

Neveah heaved a deep sigh and wondered where her sister could possibly be and what she would be doing at the moment, she shook off the images that came to her mind at the thought and heaved another sigh. Although she'd made Charlotte a promise, She'd never lied to her father before and she wasn't going to start now

"lets not discuss Sister Charlotte now father" she said slowly, "let's carry on with the meeting"

"what sort of nonsense is this, doesn't she know what today is for"

"keep your voice down father" Neveah said again, "you don't want to get your mood ruined before the meeting starts do you?"

"no my sweet", The Alpha responded and she smiled warmly "let the meeting start now father, we'll discuss sister Charlotte later"

"thank you my dear one", The Alpha said, patting her lovingly on the shoulder and briskly walked back to her seat

"okay ladies and gentlemen"The Alpha hollered after Neveah settled down in her seat

"it's time to begin the meeting" he said, quietly praying that none of them inquired about the whereabouts of his daughter, luckily no one did and the meeting proceeded

They discussed border security, cub training and education, prices of things, economical stability and the likes.

Neveah breathed out heavily as she closed the door of her room behind her. The meeting took longer than she expected,by the time they rounded up,her buttocks had already gotten numb from seating too long. She stretched out her stiff muscles as kicked off her shoes, then took off her clothes hurriedly and sauntered into the bathroom to take a warm bath. She would be going to bed early as she decided to do a little deliberating on what was said in the meeting, on the areas the pack needed development.

She settled in front of the mirror, packed up her long and wavy hair into a nightcap and began to add skin treatment to her face. Just then the suddenly door burst open, startling her. When regained her composure and looked up she met her sister, Charlotte standing there, fuming and so livid with anger

"oh hey Sister Charlotte" she greeted with a small smile and a small wave

"oh shut the fuck up you devil of a sister" Charlotte roared slamming the door and advancing to Neveah at the vanity table "what did you tell father about me?" she asked angrily"where did you tell him I went?"

Neveah cringed and crinkled her nose as the thick smell of alcohol emanating from Charlotte's body hit her nose

"ugh" she exclaimed fanning the odour away with her left hand and eventually covering her nose with it "how many bottles of alcohol did you drink"

"it is none of your business, why did you tell father i was out partying with my friends after you promised to keep my secret"

Neveah breathed in with her eyes closed then rose from the vanity table, facing her elder sister squarely

"father felt bad at your absence today, he was embarrassed and ashamed. Lying to him would only add to his pains so I decided to tell him the truth"

"you told father i was out partying with my friends when I told you to tell him I was in bed suffering from cramps and you agreed"

"you should have seen the look on father's face at the meeting he wasn't happy at all" Neveah said innocently but defensively

"you should have heard the things he said to me as well" Charlotte retorted "thanks to you I'm grounded for life"

"It is not my fault" Neveah fired back "you know your presence would be needed at the meeting tonight as the Alpha's first child but you saw it as the perfect time to party and engage in frivolous things with your friends. The last time you attended the council meeting you were on an hangover, you barely picked from everything that was said, I had to cover up for you,I don't know why you're blaming me now"

"why would anyone even want to sit in a boring gathering such as the council meeting"

"the council meetings are important to the growth and development of the pack, Sister Charlotte it's where we determined the fate of the people"

"there you go again" Charlotte said, throwing her arms in the air dramatically "correcting me and acting like you're wiser and more responsible than I am. Trying to make me look dumb everytime little miss goody two shoes"

" but that's not what I meant, I'm just trying to make your understand how important your presence and devotion is to the reputation of our father as the ruler of this pack, we're like princess and so we should behave like princesses"

"Shut up your mouth Neveah" Charlotte said and folded her arms beneath her breasts "I know who you are and what you're always trying to do. You enjoyed being the good one and would go as far as painting me black before father, to achieve your aim. You enjoy being father's favorite, you enjoy him calling you the perfect one and showering you with praises everytime. If I were indeed sick tonight you wouldn't have tattled on me even though it would have given the same result, you're a bad person Neveah, you and your obsequiousness"

"I am not being obsequious" Nevaeh yelled, forcing back the tears that were starting to gather in her eyes. Charlotte was fond of doing this, blaming her and criticizing her casual acts. They'd never gotten along, and she wondered if they would ever be friends like they were when they were kids,if they would ever get along like real sisters should

" I am not trying to prove anything, I'm just sacred of lying to father"

"the only thing you're scared of Neveah" Charlotte said, walking closer to her and poking her on the nose "is losing your reputation as the good one, nothing more. I regret trusting you Neveah, I hate coming to the world to be born as your sister"

Neveah grabbed her arm as she made to walk away but she shoved her and walked out the door slamming it shut behind her.

Neveah plopped down on the bed and placed her head on her laps. She sobbed softly as she imagined how much her sister hated her and how she would do anything for them to get along once again but if she reported her attitude to their father, Charlotte might hate her the more. She was contemplating apologizing to her her the next day when then was a knock on the door. She hurriedly wiped tears away from her eyes and sat down properly, forcing a smile out of the corners of her mouth

"come on in"

The next moment, the door opened and Caden, one of the Alpha's escorts walked in. The moment Neveah set her eyes on him all thoughts of Charlotte and their rift vanished from her mind and she became lost in his beautiful eyes, "he appears to grows more handsome everyday" she thought to herself, feeling the atmosphere change with his appearance

"are you okay Luna" Caden asked, jolting her out of her trance

"Yes I'm fine" she said smiling "how are you doing"

"I'm fine Luna, thanks for asking" She felt a strong urge to throw her arms around him and place her head on his hard chest but she cautioned herself not to do so and smiled again instead

"The Alpha sent me to inform you drink something warm before going to bed and to wish you a good night sleep"

"okay, thank you Caden"

"Sure thing Luna"

"Wait a minute Caden" he turned from the door and looked at her and she felt heat rush up to her cheeks as his gaze swept over her. She smiled broadly and lowered her gaze shyly

"Good night"

"Thank you very much Lunar" he responded with a smile and the next instant he was out the door, leaving Neveah to wallow in sweet fantasies about him.

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
