"Hurry up! You are so stupid! Too slow." Her Father said weakly but firm.

Ariana sighed several times. Her father's complaint was just that. Her ears are almost deafening with every complaint from his mouth while they are not yet late for the party they are going to attend.

As far as she knows, this is General Ryker Monterealez's despidida party. He resigned as Police General. Maybe because he wants a quiet life. It's hard to have one foot in the pit every day. That every day you will think that there's a threat in your life.

She really shouldn't be here. Ariana doesn't know the General or anyone in the police that well and neither does her Father. Her Father only got to know the General a little because of the case he was working on now. Her Father is a Marketing staff in a new beauty products Company that was launched. The company was new and had a lawsuit right away. She didn't know the reason or what the case was, but it was fixed now and there was no problem at all.

They are not even invited here but her father is still pursuing to attend and thank the General. She took a deep breath again.

"Hurry up, Ariana! You're so slow! I'll introduce you to the General."

Ariana secretly rolled her eyes. "There's no need, Dad."

"What's unnecessary? Are you really thinking? Use your beauty to hook a rich man. You're going to be stupid again, eh. That's why you still don't exist, we still don't exist because of your stupidity ."

She avoided looking at him. Something blocked her throat. Her chest heaved at what he said. Ever since her mother died, three years ago, that's how he treated her. Her Mother died of a serious illness. They were poor so her Mother was unable to be treated. From then on, her Father always pimped her out to the rich people he met. She is beautiful and has a flawless skin. Her father said, she must use it to get out of poverty. Even though she was against to it, she never did anything. She didn't even have a voice to protest the Father.

Ariana had many admirers but she didn't answer any of them. Those things were not in her mind yet. Right now, she is only thinking about education and how she can use it to get out of poverty.

"But, dad... the General is already married and has a child. And one more thing, the General is thirty years old while I'm only twenty one. Too old. I don't want someone that old to me. And beside, the General will never see me or like me because he loves his wife so much."

"Then seduce him! When you seduce a man, someone stands! You're going to be stupid again, Ariana! That's why we don't get out of being poor. You're worthless. You don't really use your brain. I don't know about you! Your brain is really narrow."

She blinked many times to keep the tears from forming in her eyes. The words he said hurt but she didn't have the strength to fight her Father. She couldn't say all that he resented here. No matter how many times, even if it's been like this for years and it's been told to her face that she's worthless, she still can't get used to it.

Sometimes she just wished that her heart would be numb so that she wouldn't be hurt by the Father's words.

"That's General! Hurry up while he's alone and his wife isn't here. Fix your dress!"

Ariana gasped as her Father pulled down the part of her dress around her chest. She was wearing a black dress that almost fit her body. It was too short and she guessed that when she bent down, her panties would be visible. The thin strap of the dress on her shoulder serves as a reason not to see her chest. She is not wearing a bra because there is a built in bra on her dress. Ariana's whiteness is obvious. If to others she looks like a real Goddess in her appearance and shape, for her she is a low class woman.

She bowed in shame. She feels like a prostitute. Everyone was looking at her. Who doesn't? They were wearing formal clothes while she looked like a woman who had just left a bar. She even surpassed them.

She really just wished that nothing bad or strange would happen tonight.

She really hope the party ends soon and hope she can get out of here soon.

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
