"I'll save your cousin, and you'll be mine. It sounds like a fair trade to me." Those were the words the Alpha King said to Roselyn; they were the beginning of her heartache, tears, passion, and love. After her cousin goes missing, a very human Roselyn Clarke has to make her way to the Alpha King Elijah Stone for him to help her. But she didn't expect to fall into his clutches, and he would never let her go. ... My breaths cane shallow as my eyes were caught in his. "This is so wrong." I whispered, trying to form some coherent thoughts. The coldness of the wall behind my back gave me some comfort from the burning heat of my body. His hazel eyes drifted between my eyes and my lips, "I know you want it, little red. I know you want me as much as I want you." Oh, how I wanted him! But I have to fight this. I repeated in my head, like a mantra that I needed to carve in my brain. "Just give in." His hand was on the back of my neck, breathing in my air, and fogging my mind with the closeness. Something coiled in my stomach, and my heart raced in my chest. My eyes moved on their own towards his lips, and I think he took it as a permission to finally kiss me. This must be hell, and he must be the devil who could lure me into the darkest pits of it.
Every fiber of my being told me to go back and not to walk into the wolf's den. However, I had no other option. I must meet him.
There was a certain chill to the night's air, and my feet dipped deeper into the wet dirt of the woods' ground. My heart rammed in my chest when I saw the cabin at a distance. I could only pray that he wouldn't kill me.
I arrived at the door, and my shaking hand hovered over the dark wooden door. This is such a bad idea, I told myself. But I had no other option. I swallowed the lump of fear and knocked three rushed times on the door.
The tips of my fingers were cold, and I held my hands together tightly, hoping that my nerves wouldn't show when the king opened the door. I probably waited for mere seconds, but they felt like hours as my mind drifted to all the reasons I should be here, and all the reasons I shouldn't.
The door was opened roughly, I thought the hinges would come out of their place. I stood there in my 5'1 height staring at the bare, and very defined chest, of the king of all wolves, the Alpha King. My wide eyes moved slowly from across his chest up to his collar bone and then towards his neck.
My eyes skipped to his, and I was mesmerized. I think I forgot how to breath properly at the sight of his hazel eyes. They were the most beautiful I have ever seen; they were like a mixture of different shades of green, surrounded by a brown rim. He was the most beautiful man I have ever l eyes on.
"Alpha Elijah Stone?" I asked in a low shaky voice.
"What's your name, little girl?" His question came tight, and he stepped closer, towering over me.
I gulped, "Roselyn Clarke, sir."
"Roselyn." He repeated my name, as if trying to get a taste out of it. "Come inside." He stepped aside, but the space he gave me was barely enough for me to pass.
My eyes drifted between him, the door, and the warmth coming from his cabin. Then, my decision was made, I gave him a hesitant nod and stepped inside trying to make myself as small as possible so I wouldn't have to brush by his bare skin.
I heard him take a long whiff, my eyes widened, and I felt the muscles of my shoulders tense. He was sniffing me. My heart thudded in my chest again, I felt I couldn't even breathe because of him. My eyes scanned the small space; it was extremely humble for a king, and it was nothing like I expected.
I stood there, awkwardly, and very unsure of what I have to do. "I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have come here like that." I whipped my head towards him, "But I'm here to plead for your help."
He hummed, circling around me with a calculating look on his face. "You're human."
Obviously, it wasn't a question, but I found myself nodding while biting my bottom lip worriedly.
I felt like he was assessing me, his scrutinizing eyes took in every part of my body. I felt like he could see all my deep and dark secret. "Alpha?" I tried to pull his attention away from my body.
"What do you need my help for, little red?" He asked with a smirk on his face. Tilting his head to the side, his hand reached to the small of my back and guided me to the small couch in front of the fireplace.
I would have usually been bothered by the nickname. I got those a lot with my strawberry blonde hair, but when it came from him, it didn't annoy me. It was unsettling yet flattering.
I sat on the edge of the couch, holding my hands together, and looking anywhere except for his face. I felt the couch dip next to me, very closely. I felt his thigh touching mine, and I stole a quick glance at his face only to see his eyes lingering on my face.
I quickly averted my eyes, deciding to watch the fire. "My cousin has gone missing." I started, making sure my voice was strong. "And she isn't the first one to go missing in Desmond, or the surrounding towns."
"Why didn't you go to your sheriff for that? This sounds like a human problem."
I knew this problem was usually beneath him, as the king of all alphas in the states. So, I explained it to him, meeting his eyes, "Everyone knows that the Black Shadow Pack are behind it. They have been bullying humans since the Big Reveal. It started in the neighboring towns, random people going missing, but they made their way here. A couple of months ago, a friend of mine from high school went missing. The sheriff told his parents that he must have skipped towns, but a month ago his body appeared in the woods." I leaned closer, "Every bone in his body was broken."
I was waiting for him to look surprised or shocked or anything. But he had this impenetrable countenance. I couldn't figure out what he was thinking. I waited for him to say something, but the silence was deafening.
"When I explained this to the sheriff, I got the idea that he couldn't do anything about it. Apparently, the Alpha of the Black Shadow Pack is also the Alpha responsible for our Area." I tried to elaborate my reason for coming to him like that.
"I see." He said before standing up. "I believe you know how to make tea, right?"
I blinked a couple of times, "Tea?" I was flabbergasted.
'Yes, Roselyn, tea. I want you to make tea." He said with a raised eyebrow. As if I was the one who's crazy.
I was beyond confused, but I got up and he led me to the small kitchen. I found my way to the kettle and searched the cabinets for tea.
"So, you believe that Alpha Peter is behind this?" I nodded my head hesitantly. "And how did you come here?" He asked me with a raised eyebrow, taking a seat on the barstool in front of the kitchen island.
"I'm a waitress in the Royal Diner, a very popular place in Desmond, and I kind of overheard the sheriff talk with his deputies that you're..." I paused wondering if I was speaking too casually to him, "I mean your highness is coming here."
"You can call me Elijah." He said with an easy tone, and the look on his eyes startled me. It was very personal, like there was an underlying message in his words with I didn't catch.
