"Naomi!" Nessa, a beautiful woman in early fourty call out her daughter who was suppose to start her university today. "Naomi Mrs Stella is around" Nessa called out for her daughter who is still inside her room, Naomi stand at the front of her bathroom mirror, just like a dream for her, she tried all her best to be the best student so she could win the school scholarship and her dreams came through. Her mother tried her best to make sure she went through high school and getting this scholarship, is just like a blessing for them.

Her mother don't have to worry about her anymore just her brother. Their father is in jail for beating her mother almost to death. Yes she won't regret calling the town sheriff on him, he's a wife beater and he deserve to be in prison. "Naomi! Naomi!! Baby where you? Mrs Stella is around she said you guys have to leave now.its 5 hrs drive to newyork city university." Nessa said entering her daughter room. "Naomi!" Nessa called again as she could only see her school bag on her bed. "In the toilet mom" Naomi respond as she came out from her bathroom. "Oh my dear, you don't have to be sad. This is a new beginning for you and all of us. You don't know how happy I am that you will be able to attend the university. I know I couldn't because my parent died at that period of my life, then seeing that I can't even afford for you makes me hate myself but thank God he gave me a beautiful brilliant girl to fulfill my dreams. Look at me baby" Nessa raised her daughter face up, "you and your brother are the best gift i have ever receive in my entire life. Don't worry about us we will survive, just focus on your study and come out successful like you always dream of Naomi.Always remember your purpose." Nessa kiss her daughter forehead before hugging her.. "Shhhhh don't cry OK. we will be fine and strong waiting for you to make us proud" Nessa release the hug and clean her eyes. "Mom what if dad comes out of jail what will you do?" Naomi ask her mother, she's 18 years but she knew her mother loves her father so much that even if he beats her sometimes especially when they aren't at home, if she ask her mom, she do cover up for him telling her she fell or she hit her head on something. "Don't worry, for the last two months he's been there, I guess he might have learnt his lesson so don't worry about us dear" Nessa hug her again. "OK mommy.. I will try and get a good grade so I can secure a job at the school library as miss Dari the town Liberian said. I want to get a better phone so I can get in touch with you and Samuel. Naomi look at her mother who just nod at every single words she said. "OK.but make sure studies comes first OK?" Nessa said to her daughter. Naomi carried the school bag on bed and went out of her small room with her mother. "Yes mom. study first" Naomi respond as they both held each other hands going down stairs. "Naomi!" Sam ran and hug his sister... "Hey don't cry I'm not going away forever. Don't make me feel guilty now" Naomi release the hug and clean her baby brother eyes. "I know.just that I will miss you and who will chase away those bullies in school for me?" Sam look at his sister face with teary eyes. "Hey, common you are a big boy now, I'm leaving mom in your care, to protect her you have to be strong and protect yourself from those stupid school bullies alright and also protect her from dad bad habits.promise me you will be strong enough to protect mom and yourself for me?" Naomi look at him raising one of her eyes brow. "I promise" Sam smile and hug her again. "Good boy. I love you Sam.. I'm going to miss you so much" Naomi hug him back. Nessa who was standing at the door side couldn't help it as a tear drop from her eyes. Those are her fruit, her bundle of joy and happiness. She's going to protect them with her life. '"Its time Naomi.we need to leave so we will meet the time for student to start checking in" Mrs Stella Naomi high school teacher responsible to help her check everything about her scholarship came inside their house and call her. "'rs Stella good morning" Naomi greeted, it was 5 o'clock early in the morning. They have to be at the university by 10am in the morning so she can check in with other new coming student. "Everything your mother gave is already in the truck. Mr Solomon will be the one to drive us there. so come let's start going." Mrs Stella said smiling at Naomi. Naomi collect her bag from her mother and gave her one last hug before pecking her brother cheeks and ran after her teacher Mrs Stella to the truck waiting outside. Nessa and her little son wave good bye to her daughter as the truck began to leave their view. "Naomi hope you know everything about staying in campus. This is not a place to joke or a place to play around. Your hard work got you where you are today, I know you see how hard your mother tries to put you through high school. Don't joke with your grades. If the school found out you are not meeting with the scholarship requirements, they will drop the funding and I'm very sure you know your mom can't afford your higher institution fees. So I want you to follow friend, not friends . Follow a friend that will be academically beneficial to you and your aim. Study like your life depends on it. I know you won't be coming back for holidays so use the opportunity to find a job that will help you raise funds for your daily up keeps alright." Mrs Stella talk to Naomi who just listen to every single words she said. "Yes ma'am" Naomi responded back. "I know the town Liberian have put you through something's so all you have to do is go into the university of new York city and win,come out successfully and be the best doctor in our town alright. Don't just make your parents proud but us as a community all of us Naomi. I want you to make the school to have the courage to sponse many student." Mrs Stella look at her through the review mirror. "I will Mrs Stella, I won't backout or fallout of my grades and aim...I will make you all proud" Naomi said nodding her head. "Good. .hope you ate breakfast tho is too early, if you don't we will grab some on our way" Mrs Stella said "Not yet but my mother package some for me in my school bag" Naomi said raising her school bag up. "Good. you can sleep if you wants to once we enter the town the university is located I will wake you up" Mrs Stella said as she look at Naomi who was nodding her head at what she said. Naomi arrange her self as she lay down at the back seat of the truck and sleep. Its already 8:30am when Naomi woke up, she stretch her hands before opening her school bag and brought out her sandwich and munch on them. After she was done she drank the juice her mother stuck inside her bag. "You're up already dear" Mrs Stella said from front seat. "Yes ma'am" Naomi responded, "'We almost there.I wanted to wake you once is 9 o'clock but since you up already you can look around as the truck pass by so in case you go out it won't look different for you. "Mrs Stella said as Naomi look around. It was 9:45am when the truck stop at a big building as families and friends of the new student came to see them off. Mrs Stella and Mr Solomon came out, Mr Solomon open the door for Naomi who came down looking around. "'We are here dear.. wishing you all the best. Hope you know your room number?." Mrs Stella hug her while Mr Solomon drop her bag and two carton boxes. "Yes I do its written in the school file you gave mé" Naomi said "Should I help you take them in?" Mr Solomon ask "'No. no don't worry I will do that myself,.thank you all.thanks Mrs Stella so much" Naomi hug her again. Mrs Stella and Mr. Solomon enter the truck and drive off living Naomi who just stood beside her loads looking everywhere. Naomi sigh as she said to her self, this is really a new beginning......
