Chapter 1 An Unexpected Suprise

I should probably introduce myself. I am Connor Korvin. I stand at about five foot ten inches and relatively slender build. I have chestnut brown hair. I keep it to my shoulders. my eyes are a dark chocolate brown. I'm just your average university student. Or I was until recently. I became a multi billionaire just recently. And this is a testament on how it changed my life.

I don't remember much from before I ended up with the Graysons. They raised me up right and treated my as one of their own. I knew that I wasn't theirs by blood, but in any other way I was their son. Mr. Grayson, Just call me Stu, was a hard working type of guy, did construction for the city and at night drove a cab. Mrs. Grayson, Call me Martha, was a school teacher at the elementary school. Including me they had four fosters.

Hawthorne Cove, that's home for all of us. Has been as long as I remember. Even when all this started, I was a freshmen here in the city at the great institution of Hawthorne State University. And that where I was when this all started.

It was just another day. I had just got done with my last class for the day, Creative Writing. It was my favorite class. I was leaving heading towards the bicycle rack to get my bike when I saw Chelsea Smithe, and yes that is with an e, walking from her own classes. I believe at the time it was English Lit. She started looking around, probably for her boyfriend, Isaac Cooper. Though laying her eyes on me her face turned into a scowl.

A little information about Miss Smithe. She is about five foot eight inches of pure blonde hair and blue eyes of mean. She had been tormenting me since she caught eyes on me at orientation. She is from a well to do family from the upper east end. This day she was wearing a tube top, what looked to be almost painted on pair of jeans with those pre worn holes in them that was the rage at the time and with the kind of sandals that had the wedge soles.

Her voice a shrill, stomped towards me, "What are you staring at, loser!"

I began unhooking my bike and responded as calmly as possible without sounding condescending, "Not a thing."

She scoffed angrily, "I sure saw you looking at me. Probably dreaming of something you can never have."

I began putting my lock into my backpack and gently shook my head, "I wouldn't dare. After all I already know your thoughts on me. You made them quite clear." My eyes conveying my sadness. She was quite a beautiful woman if not for her condescending attitude to the less fortunate.

I began to throw my leg over my seat so I could begin to ride away when I felt the hand on my shoulder.

I turned my head to find Issac Cooper standing behind me, "Who said you could talk to my girl." he mocked with a hateful glare.

Isaac Cooper, Six foot two inches, dark brown hair and green eyes. Oh, and old money. I mean old old money. could probably compete with the Rockefellers with how old the money he comes from. However, the Coopers have been on the decline. They used to be in the top four of the most influential in the city, but bad business decisions had dropped their standing that they barely touch the top one hundred.

"Was not my intention, Isaac. I will be on my way." I responded. I go to once again to mount my bicycle, when he pulled me off causing my bike to topple over and me to land hard on my backside.

"Nah. I think I will take out my frustrations on your hide." he taunted. "Why should some scholarship kid, an orphan at that, talk to such a beauty as my girl." He then swung his foot into my side, "Look at you, really! I bet that whole outfit cost you fifteen bucks if that from the dollar store."

Isaac brought another kick to my side. All I could do was get in the fetal position until he tired himself out. I knew my ribs were bruised as I had to cover my head with my arms. I heard the laughs. I heard the taunts. I heard similar ones most of my life. Orphan. Loser. Nerd. Once it all broke up. I grabbed my bike.

It wasn't anything special. But it was a gift. Martha got it for me for my sixteenth birthday so I could work at the local grocery store. It was a mom and pop store, Smiths Market. It was where I was going to head after school anyways. The scholarships I got weren't enough to cover all my expenses, so I could only keep working after school. So I kept the job even as I started college.

However that wasn't meant to be, As I saw a Bentley pull up as I got onto my bike. I could only blink as I looked at the expensive car. I hissed as I rose my leg to get only my bike. It was going to be a long ride i thought as I was about to set off. The driver without turning off the vehicle got out and started to wave me down.

"Good sir, please wait. My master would like to speak with you." he spoke, his voice raised yet not quite yelling. I don't think he could if he tried.

I looked around for a moment then pointed to my self.

"Indeed sir." he responded before he walked around the vehicle and opened the back passenger side door.

Out stepped a woman about five foot nine inches and with the same deep brown hair and chocolate colored eyes I looked at in the mirror every morning. Though to be honest she wore the hair much better than I ever could. She was in the most exquisite blouse and skirt combination. I wouldn't even hazard a guess at the brands, if I were to ask now she would laugh but tell me.

She then smiled seeing me and with a hand on her hips said, "Hello, I am your sister, Cassandra Korvin. Our father and I have been looking for you for a long time."
