Chapter 1 Going home

Davina Valentino an Italian with an American accent in her twenties, 5.8 inches tall. She has thick straight hair in a ponytail. Her hair is dyed red rose and curly at the tips. Her eyes are almond-shaped and lightly browned. Her skin is fair with a subtle rosy glow around her cheeks. She is caring, lovable at the same time, smart, ambitious, and confident.

Davina is happy to return to her family after being away for 13 years. She arrives in Italy and unfortunately loses her parents on the same day she is to meet with them.

Davina's POV

"I'm so happy to see my parents after such a long time, Uncle Luca"

"I know you are Princess," said Uncle Luca as he fondly called me since I could remember.

"It's so sad I couldn't get them anything for a present".

"Don't worry my little princess, your presence is a good enough present for them" Uncle said smiling while he was trying to zip my bag.

I've left home for a long time and my flight was scheduled for 3 pm. I am getting ready to leave and have been making preparations to leave America for two months after my parents told me it was time to get back home.

"I'm done princess, it's time for us to leave so you won't miss your flight". He said and left the room.

It was around 2:00 pm and I hurriedly picked up my favorite yellow bag my dad sent to me a few years bag for my birthday.

Uncle was already downstairs waiting for me and he called " Princess you will be late".

"Calm down uncle, you worry too much. We could book another flight if I miss this one you know", I said, smiling sheepishly and turning my gaze from him.

"Here, take her luggage to the car". He said while giving my luggage to one of the guards standing by the stairs.

Uncle Luca has had a business trip he had been preparing for and wouldn't be able to go with me to the airport. That made me sad. I wanted him to be the last person I see before leaving.

I was going to miss the life I have here, my friends and my best friend Joan Tony. My room too wouldn't be an exception as I loved the interior decor and my uncle made sure it was perfect for his princess.

Uncle Luca gave me a warm hug while bidding me goodbye.

"D, were you going to leave without saying goodbye to your best friend". I heard a female voice from outside and knew who it was, my diary in human form.

We argued the night before and I thought she wasn't going to come to see me. I rushed out of the house leaving my uncle's arms and there she was standing by her car chuckling like she always does and waving.

" You came," I said

"Of course, I did. I wouldn't miss this for the whole world D. I'm sorry about yesterday, I spoke selfishly. I know how much you missed home and should not be in between you and home. I love you D". Joan said while hugging me.

" It's fine Joan, I'm no longer mad at you. Quick, I don't want to be late for my flight". I said while going into the car and waving at my uncle who has been standing by the door.

End of Davinas' POV

Luca went back into the house to prepare for his business trip when his phone rang. Ding dong like the tone of a doorbell.

"She just left for the airport and will be in Italy soon". He said and hung up.

Davina arrived at the airport with Joan and a guard who helped her with her luggage.

'I'm going to miss you D", Joan said.

"I will make sure we always chat so you won't even feel the distance between us", Davina said while putting her hands around Joan.

"It's okay best friend, make sure you glow like you always do". Joan said.

"I will call you when I get to Italy", Davina said.

They both hugged each other and Davina left for Italy.

The mafia princess just arrived at an airport in Italy.

" Excuse me, mam, I was ordered to escort you to your destination". A man said while approaching Davina from behind.

Davina turned to see who it was and saw Marco "Thank you, Marco". Davina said while giving her luggage to Marco.

Marco, Lorenzo Valentino's most trusted guard. Was told to welcome Davina immediately after she got to Italy. Marco is an Italian in his thirties. He is herculean and muscly. He was groomed by Davinas' dad into a fine young man. He is possessive and always maintains eye contact during conversation.

Marco brought a spotless white Lamborghini which he used to drive Davina to the safe house as her father had instructed him to.

After he made sure Davina was fine, he drove back to her family's house to bring her parents.

^Time Skip^

While Davina was in the safe house, she looked through the window and saw a car coming into the compound she immediately got dressed in a shorts and tank top and goes outside hoping to meet her parents.

To her surprise, only Marco steps out of the car hurriedly with a gun in his right hand.

" Go get your things, we're leaving now."

"Where are my parents," she said with a confused and an unhappy look on her face while hurriedly grabbing her things together.

"We don't have the time for this conversation, we have to leave now. The boss asked me to keep you safe which I promised and I'm going to do just that".

While trying to get her things, she could only go with her yellow bag as she didn't know the situation of things at the moment.

Davina's POV

Marco and I left the house immediately after I got my things. He drove towards the outskirts of the city. I wasn't familiar with the place as I haven't been here for a long time.

As he drove, I could see his hands shaking and an unclear sadness on his face, I couldn't tell what has happened as he wasn't saying anything. The journey was quiet.

We got to a house which I think hadn't been in use for a long time as it was surrounded by dead trees and plants. The door creaked as Marco tried to open the door. I hesitantly followed him.

There was dust in the air and windows. Broken tables and chairs, peeling wallpapers, flickering lights, and cobwebs all over the house.

" Feel at home here," Marco said softly.

"This sure doesn't look like home to me, I am supposed to be with my parents and here I am, standing in an old abandoned building which you call home. Is this also part of my dad's plan to keep me safe. I don't understand why I should be here" I asked confused and with so much pain.

I was already feeling sick cause of the bad air I breathed. I left America hoping for so much better and couldn't imagine myself ending up in this slump of a house.

Marco picked a part of the broken chairs, walked to a side of the house, carefully placed it on the floor, and sat on it. He looked at me with tears in his eyes and broke a piece of unbelievable news to me.

"Your mum and dad are dead".

"Lucien, let's get a divorce," I said in a peremptory tone that was long overdue, the most decisive farewell to this absurd marriage. We had been married for exactly three years-three years that, for me, were filled with nothing but endless loneliness and torment. For three years, the husband who should have stood by my side through every storm, Lucien Sullivan, had completely disappeared from my life as if he had never existed. He vanished without a trace, leaving me alone to endure this empty, desolate marriage. Today, I finally received his message: "I'm back. Come pick me up at the airport." When I read his words, my heart leapt with joy, and I raced to the airport, thinking that he finally understood my love and was coming back to me. But his cruelty was far worse than I could have ever imagined-he was accompanied by a pregnant woman, and that woman was Carla, my closest and most trusted friend. In that moment, all of my previous excitement, all my hope, and all of our shared laughter and tears turned into the sharpest of daggers, stabbing into my heart and leaving me gasping for air. Now, all I want is to escape from this place that has left me so broken-to lick my wounds in solitude. Even if these wounds will remain with me for the rest of my life, I refuse to have anything to do with him ever again. He should know that it was his own hand that trampled our love underfoot, that his coldness and betrayal created this irreparable situation. But when he heard those words, he desperately clung to this broken, crumbling marriage, unwilling to let it end-almost as though doing so could rewind time and return everything to how it used to be. "Aurora, come back. I regret everything!" Regret? Those simple words stirred no emotion in me-only endless sadness and fury. My heart let out a frantic, desperate scream: It's too late for any of this!
