Chapter 1 LAST MINUTE TRIP

Georgia

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock, I groaned a little, I checked the time, 4:00am, perfect, I slowly stood up and after stretching a little, I went into the bathroom, which of course as expected looked like the toilet for kindergarteners, anyways I got to work and washed the bathroom then took a really quick bath, put on a jean trouser and a blue top, then brushed my hair and packed it in a ponytail, after that I went to the living room and switched on the lights and there my mum was, on the floor, wasted as always, I sighed and went to make breakfast, I checked the time, 7:00am, one hour till work.

My name is Georgia McGregor, I lived with my parents and my little sister Lizzie, until my dad died last year, and since he was the breadwinner and the love of my mum's life, things changed, mum broke down and started drinking and Lizzie quit school to begin acting, everytime she fails an audition, she also drinks herself to stupor, leaving me as the only sober member of our family and as the oldest member of the family ( excluding my mum) I had to do everything to take care of everyone, and because of that I don't always have time for myself, I don't even have a boyfriend, it's not that am not pretty or whatever, I just don't have time for myself.

After making breakfast, I served it then went to wake my mum.

" Mum? Wake up, I made breakfast" she groaned and opened her eyes.

" I'll be going to work now, if you need anything, call me"she stood up

" Is there anything I can do to help? You look tired" she said yawning

I smiled" just make sure Lizzie doesn't sleep all day" I hugged her, then left.

SPAIN(BARCELONA)

I stood in front of the mirror finishing my makeup when Carl badged in, no surprise there, he stood behind me fuming.

" What did I do this time?" I asked indifferent, he pulled me up in anger and made me face him

" Why can't you do anything right?!" He shouted.

" Don't shout at me, if you have anything to say, then say it" I replied glaring at him.

" What were you doing at an hotel today? Fair magazine called to warn me about an article they were about to publish about you"He said

"I went to the hotel with Erik, and it's none of your business, and I thought you didn't care about anything I did, why do you have a problem now?" I asked and sneered.

" I don't care about you, I care about my reputation, and think about the fact that a person is in the hospital thanks to you, and you don't seem to care" I sat down

Carl saltzman and I have been married for two years now, and what just happened now, happens all the time, probably because we were forced to get married for business reasons and I tried my best but Carl saltzman is impossible to live with , he said he was gonna try make our marriage work by asking me to have a baby and I refused, so we never agreed on anything and just has I signed for divorce, I hit a guy with my car, and he is in a comma and until he's fine, I can't leave.

" Just pay them as usual Carl, I can't argue so early".he waited there fuming for a while, then left

I arrived at work at least 30 minutes earlier,I worked as a clerk at rocks construction, As soon as I entered,Julian, the receptionist gave me a warm smile.

" Morning Georgia" she said as I signed in.

" Morning" I replied with a smile.

" The boss wants to see you"

" Why? Is something wrong?" I asked a little worried

" I don't know, just go first"

" Okay".I said, smiled and left

I got to our boss, Mr Rock's office and knocked, I heard a faint"come in" and entered.

" Morning Mr Rocks, is there a problem? " I asked as I sat down.

" Actually, there is, yesterday we ordered some merchandise from Barcelona, and we are missing two boxes, I need these merchandise urgently, so I need someone to make a quick trip to Barcelona" he said.

" And you chose me?why not anyone else?"

" Because everyone else is busy, it's a very quick trip, you'll go as early as 12 today and return tomorrow evening"

"But it's such short notice" I said

" Don't whine Georgia, if you go, we'll look into your promotion, when you get back, deal?"I sighed "deal"

" Now go prepare" I bowed and left.

I arrived at Barcelona late in the night, tired and exhausted, I arrived at "Circa 1905", the hotel Mr rocks had directed me to, I went to the counter and the receptionist gave me the fakest smile of the year.

" Hi, welcome to Circa 1905"

" Hi" I managed to say.

" I have a reservation, it was made earlier today, Georgia McGregor"

" Okay, let me just check" she said and went through a book

" Yes, Room 305" she said after a while and gave me a key.

" Any chance room 305 is a luxury suite?" I asked with a lot of hope.

" It's far from that, have a wonderful stay"she said and I left.

I entered the room and she was right, I fell flat on the bed and rolled around lazily a little, then got up, got changed ordered the cheapest food on the menu and dozed off.

I woke up the next my feeling a little better, it was still early, they had brought me free breakfast so I didn't have to buy anything this time, I felt relieved ,I took a cold bath, then got dressed and left.
