Chapter 1 PRELUDE

The rumbling sounds of boots stomping emerged into the foreboding atmosphere. Night was engulfing the day.

Cries of war rang out, as did the sounds of boots thumping and weapons, clashing, and slashing. The soldiers were decking, smashing, and killing each other. Their eyes were filled with rage. They screamed angrily with each swing of their weapons; growling, groaning, and moaning. The sounds of destruction echoed.

The earth seemed to tremble as if it was in pain from the hardness of the boots and hooves thumping on it.

Bathed in blood, the soldiers carried out their tasks without remorse. Anyone who gets in their way is either killed or butchered. They were two distinct armies. One was from Azar, and the other was unknown.

Azar was a powerful kingdom known for its military prowess. Many feared them because of their fierce ways in battle. Azar had fought many wars in the past, most of which were won. They reached a treaty with the opposing sides in those battles that did not end in victory. Not because they were defeated, but because their opponents requested a truce. Azar had never lost a battle to an army until this one, which was led by Lau, the king's brother.

Lau was well-prepared. He already knew he was going to win before the battle even began. Both sides fought valiantly, but the inevitable could not be avoided.

Heaven-city witnessed something it had not anticipated. As the battle progressed, Azar's soldiers became fewer and fewer until the battle could be assumed to be lost. Azar was finally conquered and dominated.

When Azar's king, Akil, saw the state of the battle, he saw no choice but to accept defeat. He wasn't going to do that, not without first ensuring that the diadem of hope was secure in the right hand. It was Azar's only chance of bouncing back when the time was right.

He called upon Nyvede, an oracle. She wasn't far away; she was close to him, fighting the enemy. She possessed some magical abilities and was also skilled in combat. She fought effectively with her staff. She used it to conjure some magical powers to aid herself on occasion. The staff was six to seven feet long and made of gold.

"My lord," she said as she obediently responded to her king's call.

"You must ensure Amil's safety."

"Yes, my lord," she said as she fought her way through the tumult to the prince. She summoned lightning and wind to assist herself, striking anyone in her path and blowing them off or unbalancing them.

She raised her staff and erected an invisible shield around herself and the prince. She turned to face him, her hand still outstretched. The soldiers were unable to get past the shield. They stood there in awe and kept trying.

Prince Amil was a young, capable boy who was skilled with the sword. Maybe too skilled for his age. He had clearly mastered it based on the way he fought with it. He doesn't waste time on any of his opponents. They meet their end as they approach. He didn't always have to dodge their weapons. He was lightning fast. He dispatches his opponents before they have a chance to swing. He slows them down with a kick or a punch and then cuts.

Nyvede called out, "My prince. Your father requests your safety. "

"Tell him I'm fine; I'll stay and fight," Prince Amil replied.

"Now is not the time to argue; you must come with me."

"Go! Tell him I'm fine. "

Nyvede knew the prince was obstinate and would not go with her. It was pointless to argue. She spun her staff in her hand and muttered some magic words before making a fist with one hand and thrusting it into the air. She and Amil vanished without a trace. They both appeared in the king's room, where the diadem was.

Prince Amil, taken aback by what had occurred, inquired furiously.

"What did you do?" His eyes widened.

"You must be safe, my prince."

"That's nonsense!" Amil screamed with rage.

"Men are fighting and dying to save the kingdom, and you want me to stay here in hiding? That is something I will not do. I have to go. "

He was about to leave but Nyvede stopped him.

"Wait! There is a prophecy, "she said. Azar will lose this battle, and the kingdom and all the other nations will fall into chaos. When that happens, you are the only hope for peace and balance to be restored to every nation, tribe, and kingdom. It's why you were born. It's your responsibility, your destiny. If you go now, you'll die, and Azar will fall forever. "

Realizing the gravity of his situation, he realized that whatever action he took at that point would determine the fate of an entire kingdom. He wasn't a coward who flees from battles. He genuinely wanted to aid in the defense of his father's kingdom. But that will only mean that the kingdom will fall and never rise again. Azar's demise was already predetermined. He couldn't help himself. He hadn't spent nearly enough time with his father. He'd only recently met him. And now he must abandon him in the midst of war. That could imply that he'll never see him again. The mere thought of those made him enraged and confused. Why must things be this way? In his thoughts, he questioned himself.

With rage, he threw his sword to the ground and yelled, wishing the situation was different. But he knew it was never going to change. He knelt on his knees, panting and frustrated. He accepted his duty. He inquired afterward.

"Can Zoe accompany us?" "Father will not come, but she may."

"She can accompany us, but it must be just her and no one else. We can't have anyone giving off signs of your whereabouts. "

The Prince took a deep breath and rose to his feet. He dashed from room to room and corridor to corridor in search of Zoe. The rooms were packed with injured soldiers and the women who were caring for them. He couldn't wait to express his sympathy for the soldiers. It was upsetting to him that he couldn't, that he had to be so cruel.

He eventually found Zoe in one of the rooms where several other women were also present. She was caring for soldiers who had been injured.

"Zoe!" He called, and when she saw him, she ran to him.

"Come with me," he said, taking her hand in his.

"To where?" Zoe inquired.

"Do you trust me?"

"Yes."

"Then follow me."

Zoe went with him back to the king's chambers. Nyvede already had some gold and other treasures in her bag, along with the king's diadem. She turned to face them.

"I'll have to erase your memories. The place we're going to will be very different from anything you've ever known. Your memories will serve no purpose other than to endanger you.

It will not be permanent; it will only be for a time. You will have them back when the time is right. "

"What exactly is going on?" Zoe inquired, perplexed.

"I'll explain everything later," Amil said.

Nyvede repeated her earlier actions when she and Amil vanished from the battlefield, and all three of them vanished. They appeared in the middle of a forest. Nyvede reached out her hand and mumbled some magic words. As she pointed forward, dark wind began to emerge from her fingers, and the wind stormed out, larger, whirling into a tornado just ahead of them. The hollow was darker and more sinister.

It was facing them, but they couldn't see what was behind it, and it was pulling, forcing them in. They were struggling to resist its force.

Suddenly, Nyvede gasped. "Someone is coming," she said, terrified, "he's here right now, and you need to get into the portal."

Amil and his sister approached the portal quickly, and it drew them in. Nyvede stopped resisting, and the same thing happened.

A warrior, the one who was after them, arrived. He had been told previously that Amil would be there, in the forest, at that spot, and for that reason, he had not joined in the battle. He had been on his way to the forest, to the spot.

On reaching, he couldn't find Amil. One moment he was seeing them, and the next, he wasn't. But then he noticed a portal that was on the verge of closing up. He concluded at once that it was the portal Amil used. And without any time wasted, he dove in, and the portal engulfed him and faded out into nothingness.

They were then all transported into the twenty-first century.
