Chapter one

A coward

Everyone has a first love story..whether happy or sad..but for Kim Soo Yun...it was someone people laughed at.

"Soo Yun...what the hell do you think that you are doing right now? Your room is a complete mess!" Jung Mi Ra, Soo Yun's mom yelled as she walked into the room. There were cuttings of cardboards on the floor...also markers were spewed everywhere..in short.. a pig's sty would look better than this mess!

Kim Soo Yun looked up and smiled at her mother with big bright eyes...she was beyond happy! J2 was finally holding a concert after such a long time! Of course she was excited. And this time...she had worked her butt off....skipped lunch several times so that she could afford to buy a front row ticket! Of course she was extremely happy! She was preparing cardboards with inscriptions like "I Love You!" to take to the concert. She really was very excited.

"Mom...I'm going to J2's concert today! He hasn't had a concert in such a long time! I'm really so happy now!" Heather said. She completely ignored her mother's complaints. She was just too happy.

Jung Mi Ra rubbed her temples. It was this J2 again. Soo Yun was so obsessed with him! Why can't she think of anything else? Why does she have to be so obsessed with a singer? And the worst part is that she does not even know what he looks like!

"Heather...you are already eighteen years old. How is it that you are still chasing celebrities at this age? When are you going to stop all this?" Jung Mi Ra asked. She was starting to get fed up. She really could not put up with it for much longer.

Kim Soo Yun looked up at her mother. "Age has nothing to do with this mother! You have no idea how much I really love him!" Soo Yun said. Her mother just did not understand...her feelings for J2 were real...she has no idea... just how much she is in love with him.

Mi Ra sighed. She was already getting tired of having this argument with Soo Yun over and over again but Soo Yun just refused to stop. "Love? Do you even hear yourself? You have never met this person before Heather! For crying out loud you don't even know what he looks like. How can you be so sure that you are in life with him? You are just obsessed!"Mi Ra yelled. She had to find a way to get her daughter away from this crazy obsession.

Soo Yun shot up immediately. She really hated it when people told her that she was obsessed. She wasn't obsessed! She was in love! "Mom what are you talking about? I'm not obsessed! I really love J2! You don't understand it at all!" Heather said. She was starting to get angry...how can she say such things as she is obsessed? She does not even understand...her mother..she does not know anything...so how can she talk about her love like this?! She had an urge to yell but she held it back. Soo Yun only said "I'm not obsessed mom"

Mi Ra was only getting more and more angry. "What? You are not obsessed? How can you chase down a celebrity like this? You don't even know what he looks like! Do you even know the reason why he has to keep his identity a secret? Who knows...maybe he is a bad person!" Mi Ra yelled. She was hoping that this would get Heather over her crazy obsession. For goodness sake his identity is unknown...there is next to nothing about J2 on the internet.... worse no one has ever seen his face....so how can her daughter love her so much?

Soo Yun rolled her eyes. She knew what her mother was trying to do. She was trying to get her to stop liking J2. But that won't be possible in this lifetime. She was never going to stop liking him. Truthfully...even though no one had ever seen his face...J2 did have a lot of fans...almost all of those fans wanted to know what he looked like...there had been cases when a fan tried to stalk him to try to find out what he looks like but no one has ever seen his face. Heather on her part was never bothered. She never wanted to know what he looks like....just hearing his voice..was enough for her.

"Mom...J2 has his own reasons for keeping his identity a secret. If he does not want people to know then that is completely fine. I am not bothered by that. I am not like those fans who keep going to extra lenghts to find out what he looks like...I'm not worried about that all" Soo Yun declared righteously. How can her mother say that she is obsessed? She is not obsessed. In her opinion those fans who were trying to find out what he looks like were the ones who were obsessed. Why won't they respect his privacy? He probably has his reasons for keeping his identity a secret.

Mi Ra sighed. She could never reason with her. What reason could there be for a singer to keep his identity a secret? In her opinion that J2 was not a good person at all! He was probably someone who has done a lot of bad things and he wants a clean break! So he proceeds to hide his face to sing! Her imagination was really running wild. "What? How can you say that you are not obsessed? It's only right for someone to want to know what the celebrity that they like looks like! But you....you are probably the worst stalker possible! You don't want to know what he looks like yet you keep declaring your love for him everyday! Does this even make any sense to you at all?" Mi Ra asked. She could not figure out what was going on his her mother's head.

"Mom...you don't understand at all. I love J2...and because of that love I am not going to invade his privacy..if he wants to keep his identity a secret.. he can keep it a secret! I can even help him do that!" Heather said. For most people. When they love someone..they want to be noticed....they want to give the other person thier love...but Soo Yun was different.

For her... loving him from a distance...even if he never knows about her love...it was okay for her...

"Mom...I have to go now! Bye!" Soo Yun said and ran out of the house with her cardboards.

J2 was sitting in front of the mirror. In a few minutes...it would be time for him to go up on stage. Despite the shrieking voices that he could hear from the stage he was left with an hollow feeling....those people screaming down there...if they knew just how much of a mess his life was they won't want to have anything to do with anymore right? They won't love him anymore right? He took out a picture from a drawer and stared at it for a few seconds. "Mom.... if I keep going on like this...I...I...will be able to find you right? Right now...you are safe right?" J2 asked. He sighed and then put the picture back. It was all for his mother...once he finds her...he won't need to do this anymore. He just had to find her first.

In the concert, Soo Yun was screaming her lungs out. She was really very excited. She really had the time of her life. Other people did not understand... they all thought that she was just an obsessed teenager. But Soo Yun knew...she wasn't obsessed...those people will never know the reason for her love.

When the concert was over, she walked outside and was preparing to go home. As usual they were many fans clamouring near the exit trying to find out what J2 looks like but Heather did not do that. She really did not want to know...she believed that as long as he was ready J2 will reveal his face.

She was already getting ready to go home when she heard two girls talking about J2. She was going to ignore them but the girls were being very rude and in the end she could not hold herself back for much longer

One of the girls were saying. "I wonder what J2 thinks that he is doing not showing his face to anyone. Does he think that this is some kind of marketing strategy? He has an amazing voice so why won't he show his face to others? It's so annoying seriously!"

"I know right? I wonder what he thinks he is. He has an amazing voice but he chose such a terrible marketing strategy. Won't it be better if he just showed his face to his fans? Why does he have to wear such an hideous mask? It's so disgusting!" The second girl said. She was so irritable. She has been trying hard to get a glimpse of what J2 looks like . She had already calculated and found out that if she reveals the identity of the famous J2 she was going to be famous too! But so far she had gotten nothing! And so she was angry.

"I'm totally in support of you! I don't know why he is so bent on hiding his face. His popularity is going to shot to the highest level if he just reveals his identity. So why does he have to go to such lenghts to hide it? It's not just about his face. There's absolutely nothing...no information at all about him on the internet. The only thing that I was able to find after searching for so long was his age! And even the date of birth was not specified! It only said that he was around eighteen years!" The other girl said.

"I know right? There is absolutely nothing at all about him! It's just as if he dropped on Earth from outer space! I bet that he must be really ugly! That is why he hides his face!" The other girl snorted. She was so angry.

Soo Yun could not contain her anger any more. She walked to the girls. "what do the both of you think that you are talking about right now? Who told you that you can talk trash about J2? It's none of your business if he wants to keep his identity a secret! And by the way how do you know that he is ugly when you have never seen his face before?!" She yelled at the both of them.

The girl was immediately flustered. She did not expect that someone was going to confront her. Besides...most of the fans that she had met were always trying to find out his identity...this was the first time she was meeting a fan who wanted to protect his identity.

The second girl immediately fired back. "And what is it to you if we decide to talk about me? I merely made a speculation! If he hides his face then it's because he is ugly and he doesn't want the world to see his ugly face!"

Soo Yun was immediately fired up. "What? What did you say?" She asked.

"I said that he is ugly! What are you going to do about it?!" The first girl yelled. She pushed Soo Yun back and she immediately fell back. She was sure that she was going to hit the hard ground very soon but instead of a sharp pain that she was expecting she fell into a pair of big arms.

Soo Yun turned spontaneously. She saw that a boy who seemed no older than her had caught her. For a second...Heather felt as if her mind had gone blank. She could not think of anything else...she could only see his face. He really was very handsome...how can someone look this good? He looked like a character straight from a comic book!

Before she could open her mouth to say anything the boy let go of her and walked away.

Heather turned to face the girl that had pushed her but she was long gone! She turned again and saw that the boy who just caught her was walking away! For a second Heather was confused. She did not know what to do.

Then, she made her decision. Picking up her steps she yelled. "Wait!"

Lee Young Joon who was already walking away suddenly came to a stop. He saw the girl that he had just helped walking to him. What could she want from him?

"Hi...my name is Kim Soo Yun and I want to thank you for helping me out just now. If it wasn't for you then I would have gotten into a serious accident!" Soo Yun said. She was smiling so cheerfully...she was someone who considered her smile cute... unfortunately the person standing in front of her did not think so...he felt like it was scary.

Lee Young Joon had the urge to just walk away when she smiled at him. It was so scary that it made him shudder. Without a single expression on his face he said. "I get it but I did not help you just now. You were about to fall into me. So I protected myself. Don't get it wrong"Lee Young Joon said. He really wanted this person to stop talking to him.

The smile froze on her face. So he was not helping her..he just did not want to fall down with her. "Anyway...you helped me in the process so I am grateful. Thank you"Soo Yun said. There still wasn't an expression on his face. Heather thought that he was being cold to her since he saw her arguing with those schools. "Actually...I am usually not like that. I was only arguing with them because they said bad things about J2!" Soo Yun said. She would do anything to protect J2's image.

Lee Young Joon scoffed. He could not believe what he was hearing. She almost got into a fight because of J2? How stupid! If only she knew...... "What a joke! How stupid..." He said with a sneer.

Soo Yun heard what he said immediately. Was he making fun of her for liking J2? "What do you mean by that? What stupid?" She asked.

"You...you are stupid. You almost got into a fight for J2? How stupid is that?!" He asked. He was starting to get angry.

No matter how good looking this person was,Soo Yun could not stand anyone making fun of her love for J2!

"What nonsense are you talking about? Why am I stupid for standing up for him?" She questioned him.

"You are stupid. How can you even like such a person? J2...he is such a Coward!" Lee Young Joon yelled.
