Kennedy was in love with Duncan DelaMerce, the Alpha that her father adopt and trained to be the next leader of their pack. Kennedy had only one wished to the moon goddess-that Alpha Duncan would be her destined mate. But to her dismay her wish did not come true. The moon goddess did not grant her only wish, Alpha Duncan already found his destined pairs.
Kennedy screamed out in surprise. When she looked at who was following her, it was none other than Duncan DelaMerce, the Alpha leader of the Silver Cross packs, and the last person she didn't want to see.
Her palms were sweating and her chest was tightening as she glanced up at him.
The sound of her heart continued pounding harder, and the sound of his footstep going towards her was the only thing she heard.
Seeing him again made her knees weak.
If only she stayed beside her fiancé, this would not have happened.
She knew she couldn't avoid him forever. But she was not ready to face him.
She calms herself and changes her expression to blank. She would not let him think that his presence was affecting her.
If not, because this is a birthday celebration for the empress. Kennedy wouldn't come to the palace in the first place.
But she had no choice. Glenn wants to form a connection with the other pack, and he wants to introduce her to everyone as his future Luna.
"It was nice meeting you, Sir Duncan. I'm going ahead; my fiancé is looking at me now. " She stressed the word "fiancé" just to stop him from approaching her again.
Avoiding his eyes on purpose, she walked past him. She wanted to thank herself that she had not trembled.
"Are you avoiding me on purpose?"
"No." She rolled her eyes, and the man chuckled. "You are," she snapped at his hands, which were suddenly clasped around her waist.
"Duncan! What are you doing? Let go of me! " She suddenly forgot to address him.
She was shocked. What if someone might see them? And worse, it was Glenn.
She breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed that there were only the two of them.
Glenn had no idea that the Silver Cross pack he hated was the old pack where her future luna was born and raised. It's better to avoid this man than to cause a problem between her and Glenn.
As someone like her would become the Luna of the Crimson Blue packs, it's not a good idea to see her alone with someone like Duncan DelaMerce, who has been linked to Princess Lilian, the 6th princess. There was a rumor that the emperor gave his daughter's hands to the new war hero, who was Duncan DelaMerce.
But until now, it was only speculation going around, and neither Duncan nor the princess confirmed it.
Duncan was still seen with various ladies.
She wondered why Duncan was still not introducing his Luna. The war had already ended, and it was about time for him to settle down.
Should she feel happy about him not introducing his mate or feel guilty because she was the reason why he could not be with his fated mate. She didn't know how long she would remain in his arms. His hand is still at her waist. The more she tried to get away from him, the more he tightened his grip.
It was hard for Kennedy not to smell his natural scent. She held herself back from gulping and clenched her fist. She was annoyed at all the people she could meet in this place.
Why him?
Kennedy swears to herself that she will avoid this man at all costs. But every time, Duncan still finds a way to cross their path.
He seemed no different from before. Duncan DelaMerce was still the same man Kennedy used to love. He was a man who had never shown a smile before. Why is he smiling at her now?
"Please Duncan!" Kennedy almost shouts at the top of her lungs. She stares around and looks for a way to escape. She didn't want to see or have a conversation with this man. He slowly released her. She took a step back.
"We need to talk, Kennedy."
What did this man need from her?
Does he not understand that she doesn't want to talk to him?
Every time Kennedy sees him, she recalls the things she wanted to forget.
On how she became like her mother just to get the man she loved.
She was so blinded by love that she knew, in the end, she would only get hurt.
"We have nothing to talk about." she said. She was restlessly looking for a way to escape from this man, but he was holding her wrist firmly.
"No. I refuse to talk with you! Did I tell you that the second time we meet, treat me like we don't know each other." Why was it hard for him to understand what she wanted?
"Can you listen to me?"
She doesn't know why this man is insisting on talking with her.
"Enough!"
Unexpectedly, Kennedy felt something soft touch her lips. She was not expecting what he did. That is why her expression was full of surprise.
"Ump--!" Both her eyes widened in shock; it was only then that she realized that Duncan was already kissing her. His kiss was gentle, till Kennedy felt his tongue slip inside her mouth. Her heart suddenly wanted to explode, as if she were out of breath. His hand is on the back of her head, holding her in place. It was like time had stopped for a long moment, unsure whether Kennedy wanted to push him, but he was strong enough for Kennedy, who tried everything to get away from his hold. Heat spread through Kennedy, and she could not imagine that she was kissing him back.
Kennedy tries to push him hard.
"Why are you doing this to me?" The first thing Kennedy asked when their lips parted? Kennedy still feels the taste of the blood coming from him when she bit him. She quickly wiped her mouth with her hand.
"You still have feelings for me," Duncan said, with a self-satisfied smirk that showed on his face while he laughed.
Kennedy glared at him. Tears were streaming down her cheeks without her noticing.
Curse this man!
Kennedy raised a hand to slap him but suddenly pulled her closed and struggled to escape from this man's embrace.
"Leave Glenn and come with me." Duncan was not smiling when he said it to her. "He was not the man for you."
"Are you serious? Why would I do what you said?"
"And who is the man for me?"
You seriously have time to play, Duncan DelaMerced!
"Do you think I was still the same Kennedy who was madly in love with you?" She said this while not taking her eyes off. "The naive, stupid, and foolish Kennedy, who will do everything to get the attention of an alpha like you!"
"But I am not going to make the same mistake again?"
Duncan chuckles. "We'll see."
"Are you threatening me?" It seems like Kennedy wants to scratch his annoying face.
Kennedy knew that Duncan wanted to punish her for everything she did. She left the pack without even paying for the sins she had committed.
