Chapter 1 Synopsis

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I welcome you all to our brand-new world. A world where the last man standing will be given extra treatment." I heard the commentator's voice which was carried throughout the arena ground with the help of a speaker, followed by the loud roaring of the crowds.

"Idiotic and fools, they never get tired of shouting." I mumbled under my breath.

One of the soldiers yelling behind me said, "Hey you!" I heard one of the soldiers yelling behind me. I knew he was referring to me, but who cares?

"What did you just say?" He yells louder again, attracting the attention of the other 3 soldiers and the rest of the kids in front of me.

"Go and ask your little motherfucker." I replied to him nonchalantly. He raised his hand up to whip me, but I stepped aside. With immediate effect, I unsheathed his knife and placed it on his throat. I could see the rest of the soldiers trying to cock their guns.

"Take a single step, and I won't hesitate to slice his throat." I growled in a dangerous tone. They know me better than to dare my order, and they know I won't hesitate to do as I say. They lowered their guns and started pleading with their eyes. All around me, the rest of the little kids, about 10 in number, started to giggle softly, which made the soldiers bend their heads in disgrace. I am sure those stupid kids would have run for their lives if they known what awaited them in the arena ground? The soldiers look at me in anger and fury, but they can't defy my orders. I released the man and pushed him, making him stumble towards the rest of the men.

"We lost some of our vicious players yesterday," I heard the commentator continue. "5 minutes of silence for them."

"I am getting tired of your stupid game," I grumble, making sure the soldiers heard me. Just when I was about to take my seat, the commentator continued his speech.

"We lost Becky Ham's, Chris Woods, and Maya Sunshine in yesterday's battle. May their fucking souls rot in hell. "

"These idiot old fools don't even have respect for the dead," I mumbled aloud again, and the rest of the kids erupted into laughter again.

"You are all fools," I snapped at them, making them go silent. "Only if you know what you are going to be facing out there, I am sure you will be making a plan on how to save your forgotten soul." I can see the look of fear on their eyes, but I don't give a fuck.

"Yesterday, the winner went away with $80,000. Congratulations to the man, Mr. Clarkson. " I heard the commentator continue his stupid conversation. "Now, let's move to today's fun." I moved away from the speaker, squatted on one side and relaxed.

Finally, Rey Reed, also known as R.R. I heard the commentator calling my name. One of the soldiers moved towards me, ready to jab me with the hilt of his sword. But he was pulled back by the man I held earlier, warning him not to try it. I held a smirk on my lips, ready to face the stupid crowds again, ready to be alive no matter the odds against me. Even though I try to appear strong and tough on the outside, I have a soft heart on the inside.

Taking a deep breath, I stand on my feet and move towards the entrance of the arena. I can see that the rest of the kids have already been pushed inside. I composed myself, tried as much as possible to hide my fear, and got ready to face the battle ahead. A place of no retreat, no surrender, a place where no one survives, a dreadful place where you are forced to be killed or be killed by a ferocious beast.

A place where you fight "UNTIL DEATH"

"You're a creepy bastard." His eyes smolder me and his answering grin is nothing short of beautiful. Deadly. "Yet you hunger for me. Tell me, this appetite of yours, does it always tend toward 'creepy bastards'?" **** Widower and ex-boss to the Mafia, Zefiro Della Rocca, has an unhealthy fixation on the woman nextdoor. It began as a coincidence, growing into mere curiosity, and soon, it was an itch he couldn't ignore, like a quick fix of crack for an addict. He didn't know her name, but he knew every inch of her skin, how it flushed when she climaxed, her favourite novel and that every night she contemplated suicide. He didn't want to care, despising his rapt fascination of the woman. She was in love with her abusive husband. She was married, bound by a contract to the Bratva's hitman. She was off-limits. But when Zefiro wanted something, it was with an intensity that bordered on madness. He obsessed, possessed, owned. There'd be bloodshed if he touched her, but the sight of blood always did fascinate him. * When Susanna flees from her husband, she stumbles right into the arms of her devilishly handsome neighbour with a brooding glare. He couldn't stand her, but she needed him, if she was ever going to escape her husband who now wanted her dead. Better the devil you know than the angel you don't. She should have recalled that before hopping into Zefiro's car and letting him whisk her away to Italy. Maybe then, she wouldn't have started an affair with him. He was the only man who touched her right, and the crazy man took no small pains in ensuring he would be the last.
