Before the wedding, I accidentally overheard a conversation between my fiancé, Edmund Lawson, and his friend.
He was full of pride, saying, "Thanks to your help, I managed to win over this wealthy girl."
I didn't make a scene, and I just wanted to call off the wedding, but Edmund threatened me and dragged me to the rooftop.
As he held me and we fell from the rooftop, I realized this man was insane.
He whispered a nightmarish curse in my ear, "Renee Evans, you will be mine for all eternity."
Given a second chance at life, how did I end up being targeted by this madman again?
01
In my previous life, when I overheard Edmund's conversation with his friend, I realized he approached me with ulterior motives.
I pushed open the door and demanded to break off the engagement. I saw Edmund's body freeze, and he slowly turned around, his eyes bloodshot and terrifying. He enunciated each word, "Say that again."
Even if I said it ten more times, it would be the same. I hate being deceived the most. "Edmund, I want to call off the engagement."
Suddenly, Edmund picked me up by the waist, carrying me like a piece of cargo towards the stairs. I pounded on his shoulders desperately, but his steps didn't falter. He kicked open the rooftop door, which was barely locked, until my back was pressed against the railing.
He leaned close to my ear, his voice hoarse with a nearly perverse madness, "Renee, I would rather die than call off the engagement."
I watched as friends rushed up and kept shouting at Edmund, hoping to awaken what was left of his conscience.
He glanced back, a cruel smile tugging at his lips, and my heart sank as I saw the resolute expression on his face.
He exerted force with his hands, and my body lost its balance, slowly tipping over. Yet, he clung tightly to me, suddenly pushing off with his legs, and we plummeted straight down.
Despair enveloped my heart. At that moment, I couldn't face death calmly, squeezing my eyes shut as the wind howled fiercely past my ears.
Edmund's grip didn't loosen, and he was holding me tightly, whispering like a demon in my ear, "Renee, you will be mine for all eternity."
My mind was blank, but I had the only one thought that in the next life, I would stay far away from this lunatic.
02
When I opened my eyes again, the strong wind still howled fiercely past my ears. A speeding roller coaster flashed by, and the people on it screamed sharply.
I looked up and saw the towering twin drop towers across from me. Wasn't this the amusement park next to the university?
In my previous life, I was young and naive, unafraid of anything, thinking I had escaped my parents' control and wanted to try everything new.
I had arranged to ride the drop tower with classmates, but as soon as it started, the intense feeling of weightlessness made me faint instantly. The machine stopped urgently, and I was sent to the hospital by a helpful senior from the same college, barely escaping with my life.
That senior later became my fiancé, and it wasn't until the wedding was about to start that I knew he had taken credit for saving me.
Given a second chance at life, I didn't dare to gamble with my life. I declined my classmates' invitation and waited in the rest area below the drop tower.
Driven by intense curiosity, I didn't leave immediately. With my eyes scanning the surroundings, I hoped to find the senior who truly saved me in my previous life and thank him personally.
The amusement park was bustling, filled with students from nearby universities, including many young couples.
My gaze fell on a couple not far away, walking and talking sweetly.
The girl looked familiar, and she seemed to be from a different class in the same major as me. Just as I was about to greet her, the moment the boy turned around, my breath caught, and a chill ran down my spine.
It was Edmund!
The curse from my previous life replayed in my ears, and a heart-wrenching pain tore at my chest.
Unconsciously, my teeth bit into my lip, and the bloody taste on my tongue brought a moment of clarity. I saw the girl and Edmund walking towards me, and there was only one thought in my mind, I should run!
But my legs felt like they were filled with lead, unable to move an inch. My breathing became rapid, and a fear deeply ingrained in me made my body tremble uncontrollably.
"Are you feeling unwell?"
A gentle voice sounded in my ear. I turned to see a boy standing beside me, the glaring sunlight casting a shadow over his handsome features. His long, thick eyelashes couldn't hide his beautiful eyes.
My gaze fell on the familiar pattern on his jacket.

"I..." I tried to speak, but my throat was painfully hoarse. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the two people behind me moving closer. Cold sweat dripped from my forehead, draining all color from my face. I couldn't utter a single word.
A girl's voice, filled with surprise, reached my ears, "Jeremy, is this your girlfriend?"
The girl patted the boy's shoulder, greeting him familiarly, and introduced Edmund to him, "Edmund, this is my best friend from high school, Jeremy Reid. Jeremy, this is Edmund Lawson, a year ahead of us in the business major. He's my boyfriend now."
After the two boys exchanged polite greetings, all three of them focused their attention on me.
The girl tilted her head, squinting as she studied me before finally asking, "Are you Renee Evans from Class Three? I'm Maia Watson from Class One."
She then turned to Jeremy, winking as she spoke in a low voice that we could all hear, "This is the most beautiful girl of our college I told you about. Isn't she pretty?"
The boy smiled, his eyes curving as he waved his hand, "Maia, you've misunderstood. I just saw Miss Evans looking unwell and came over to check. She's not my girlfriend, and I wouldn't want to cause any trouble."
When I was listening to their conversation, my mind kept replaying memories.
Jeremy? I searched my mind for this name but found nothing.
In my previous life, Edmund liked to take me to his friends' gatherings, and I knew most of his friends, but I had never heard of anyone named Jeremy.
Feeling a bit disappointed, I lowered my head, realizing today wasn't the day to meet him.
Just then, my classmates finished their ride on the drop tower and came over to greet me, easing the awkwardness among us.
With my classmates by my side, I felt my tension gradually dissipated, and I linked arms with them, ready to leave.
"Wait!"
The boy named Jeremy suddenly called out to me, scratching his head shyly, "Is it convenient to add you on social media?"
