Haunted by their painful pasts,  Alex Miller and Addisson Brown found comfort in each other's arms. He wanted something to protect, she wanted to be protected. He was her rock. She was his sanctuary.  But when high-school ends and real life kicks in, what sacrifices are Alex and Addisson willing to make to keep their relationship from falling apart? Are they going to be just another high-school couple with sweet memories and no future? Or  are they the ones who would go through every challenge infront of them and still remain steady? Are they forever?

Chapter 1 Prologue

"Please" Addison heard her mom plead. It was always this way. Countless nights of hearing her parents fight had left her numb now. On second thoughts, "fight" wasn't the right word. It was more of her mom begging her Dad for permission to do simple things like wanting to go out to the mall, wanting to hangout with her friends, etc.

Addison hated it.

She spent those cold nights tucked under her safety blue blanket, promising herself one thing. She would not live this life.

At 12 years old, all her friends had a lot of stories about the expensive gifts their Dads bought them, the adventures they went for in the weekends and how they are proud to say that they are their Daddy's princesses.

All Addisson had was the daily drunken yelling of her Dad, the sobbing and begging of her mother and a broken furniture each day. She muffled the sob which escaped her lips. She can't let them hear her. They can't see her broken.

Once Addisson is old enough, she would leave and she would not come back. Not for anyone or anything. That wish was what made Addisson get up each day.

That wish was what kept Addison going.

Until him.

My world revolved around Jax Harding, my older brother's captivating rockstar friend. From sixteen, I adored him; at eighteen, I clung to his casual promise: "When you're 22, maybe I'll settle down." That offhand comment became my life's beacon, guiding every choice, meticulously planning my twenty-second birthday as our destiny. But on that pivotal day in a Lower East Side bar, clutching my gift, my dream exploded. I overheard Jax' s cold voice: "Can't believe Savvy's showing up. She' s still hung up on that stupid thing I said." Then the crushing plot: "We' re gonna tell Savvy I' m engaged to Chloe, maybe even hint she' s pregnant. That should scare her off." My gift, my future, slipped from my numb fingers. I fled into the cold New York rain, devastated by betrayal. Later, Jax introduced Chloe as his "fiancée" while his bandmates mocked my "adorable crush"-he did nothing. As an art installation fell, he saved Chloe, abandoning me to severe injury. In the hospital, he came for "damage control," then shockingly shoved me into a fountain, leaving me to bleed, calling me a "jealous psycho." How could the man I loved, who once saved me, become this cruel and publicly humiliate me? Why was my devotion seen as an annoyance to be brutally extinguished with lies and assault? Was I just a problem, my loyalty met with hatred? I would not be his victim. Injured and betrayed, I made an unshakeable vow: I was done. I blocked his number and everyone connected to him, severing ties. This was not an escape; this was my rebirth. Florence awaited, a new life on my terms, unburdened by broken promises.
