The moment I pushed open that VIP room door, my fiancé and my stepsister were on the couch, plotting how to steal my mother's entire inheritance. He rejected me in front of everyone? Fine. I walked straight into another man's contract-Caden Sinclair. Later, he held me against his chest while bandaging my wound, his voice low against my ear: "I've been tracking you for three years. Because your mother told me at an auction twenty years ago-her daughter was worth finding." My stepmother showed up wearing my mother's heirloom? I took it back with my own hands. My father is trying to have me declared insane? I'm holding the proof that his wife paid to have my mother killed. And right now, under the moonlight- My shadow turned into a wolf. You spill my blood? I'll take your life.

His Rejected Luna: The Lycan King's Vengeful Mate Chapter 1 No.1

Audriana POV:

The clerk's voice was coated in professional pity. "I'm sorry, Ms. Sullivan. Alpha Black's appointment was thirty-two minutes ago."

I kept my spine straight against the polished walnut counter of the North American Inter-Pack Alliance Registry Hall. Outside, the rain lashed against the vaulted glass arches, casting cold gray shadows across the marble floor. Couples stood in reverent pairs along the corridor, waiting to register their sacred mating bonds before the High Clerks.

I was standing alone.

"He was detained by a perimeter dispute," I lied, keeping my voice smooth as glass. "Give him ten minutes."

"If Alpha Black does not present himself within the hour, your scheduled window lapses," the clerk warned quietly. "The next available docket is three months out."

I nodded once, stepping away. The scent of aged parchment and lemon disinfectant churned against the sudden knot in my gut. I reached through the crowded room with my senses, filtering through the humid stench of dry champagne and anxious sweat. Gabe's scent-damp earth, pine resin, and the sharp bite of rain-was completely absent.

My phone vibrated against my palm. I glanced down, expecting an apology.

Instead, a text from an unlisted number flashed across the screen:

VIP Lounge 3. End of the private corridor. See what your loyalty bought you.

My wolf rose beneath my ribs, her hackles bristling with silent dread.

I pushed through the frosted glass doors, moving soundlessly down the carpeted hallway. As I approached Room 3, a sickeningly sweet aroma seeped through the recycled air. Cherry blossoms and heavy vanilla musk.

Hailee. My stepsister. The girl who was supposed to be in Midtown overseeing our wedding reception.

The heavy redwood door stood open by a fraction of an inch. I stopped in the shadow of the doorframe, every muscle locking into place.

"-she honestly believes the Cayman accounts are untouchable," Hailee's breathy, melodic laugh drifted out. "She thinks she hid the 'Aura' design royalties behind seven shell companies. Gabe, darling, she is completely blind."

"She's an arrogant fool," Gabe's deep baritone answered, dripping with smug contempt. "She always thought she was smarter than the rest of the pack. Once the binding rite is sealed today, the Beaumont family trust defaults to marital guardianship. Her assets, her corporate portfolio, her secret little Aura jewelry earnings-everything transfers to Blackwater authority. She'll have nothing left to posture with."

"And then?" Hailee purred. The rustle of expensive silk followed.

"Then I lock her away in the northern compound to balance our domestic ledgers. And you and I run the pack together."

The air left my lungs. The shock didn't paralyze me; it crystallized my blood into sub-zero ice. The Beaumont trust was my late mother's sole legacy. And Aura-the anonymous, multimillion-dollar high-jewelry persona I had built through four years of sleepless nights. They knew. They had planned to strip me bare, take my empire, and cage me.

I did not flinch. With cold, mechanical precision, I slipped my phone from my pocket, activated the audio recorder, and planted my heel into the door.

The heavy wood crashed against the interior stopper like a gunshot.

On the velvet sofa, Gabe scrambled upright, his tailored suit jacket unbuttoned. Hailee shrieked, tumbling off his lap onto the rug, her bare shoulders flushed pink, her designer lip gloss smeared across Gabe's jaw.

"Audriana!" Gabe barked, panic flashing across his rugged face before hardening into defensive fury. "What the hell is this?"

I stood framed in the doorway, my chin tilted, holding my phone loosely at my side as it recorded every syllable.

"Thirty-two minutes late to our binding," I said, my voice dropping into an arctic register that sliced through their mingling pheromones. "And I find you plotting grand larceny with my stepsister. Tell me, Gabe. Which clause in the Pack Charter justifies treason?"

Hailee dropped to her knees, manufactured tears welling in her doe eyes. "Audri, please... don't be cruel! The mate bond snapped into place between us last week. We were only trying to spare your feelings!"

"Spare my feelings?" A venomous laugh slipped past my lips. "Is that what you call hunting down my offshore banking manifests?"

Gabe stepped between us, his posture stiffening. The domineering, heavy aura of an Alpha rolled off him, pressing against the room to force submission. "Enough. If you know, it saves us the performance. You were always too rigid, Audriana. Too calculating. A true Luna nurtures her Alpha; she doesn't hoard wealth and look down on him from an ivory tower."

"I built that tower while you drove your father's business into bankruptcy," I shot back, refusing to yield an inch. "You're a parasite, Gabe."

His jaw twitched violently. Cornered, his predatory pride turned vicious.

"I, Gabe Black, Alpha of the Blackwater Pack," he intoned, invoking the ancient rites of severance, "formally reject you, Audriana Sullivan, as my destined mate and future Luna."

The words struck like a sledgehammer to my chest.

Even with no love left in my heart, the primal biology of the werewolf mate bond did not care about logic. A white-hot blade cleaved straight through my sternum. My soul felt as though it were being ripped along a jagged seam. Static roared in my ears; darkness encroached at the edges of my vision.

I bit down on the inside of my cheek until copper flooded my mouth. I dug my nails into my palms, using the physical pain as an anchor.

I looked Gabe dead in the eyes, refusing to give him a single tear.

"I, Audriana Sullivan," I rasped through blood-stained teeth, "accept your rejection."

Snap.

The spiritual cord severed with an internal blast of silence. The agonizing fire collapsed into a dull, hollow thrum. Hailee let out a breathless, triumphant sigh behind him.

I stopped the recording, pocketed my phone, and looked at them as if they were vermin on pavement.

"Enjoy the scraps," I said softly.

I turned on my three-inch heels and walked away.

The soul-deep ache made my knees buckle as I reached the secluded northern exit. I caught myself against a marble Roman column, gasping for breath against fractured ribs.

"A clean severance," a deep, velvety baritone murmured from the shadows of the alcove. "Messy execution, but admirable composure."

My head snapped up.

A man was leaning against the stone masonry, enveloped in tailored darkness. He was tall, his broad shoulders commanding the narrow hallway, his face sculpted with aristocratic, predatory precision. But it was his scent that froze the breath in my throat: ancient cedar, black pine, and the glacial ozone of an incoming blizzard. Primal. Sovereign.

He extended a heavy, matte-black card between two long fingers.

"Call when you're ready to rebuild," he murmured, his dark eyes burning with lethal amusement.

I took the card. Embossed in silver were three words: Caden Sinclair.

Before I could speak, he dissolved into the twilight shadows.

Ten minutes later, I walked into my private auxiliary suite in the financial district. My executive assistant, Maya, looked up from the reception desk, saw the blood on my lip, and didn't ask a single question. She quietly set a steaming mug of chamomile tea on my desk.

"I'll reschedule your four o'clock," Maya whispered gently.

I gripped the hot porcelain, feeling the fire return to my veins.

"Don't cancel a thing, Maya," I said, my voice turning to razor wire. "We're just getting started."
