Paula's POV

'What should I do if my boyfriend cheats on me?'

This was one of the most searched relationship questions on the internet. I had heard stories of women catching their spouses cheating, but I never expected that I would be in their shoes one day.

I stood outside like a statue while listening to the pleasurable moans and smacking sound of flesh meeting flesh. It took a long time for me to process what I was hearing.

The squeaking of the bed frame, loud moans, and smacking of flesh were enough to indicate that they were having intense sex.

After putting down the gift box and bottle of red wine, I took a deep breath and walked to the bedroom door with clenched fists.

I kicked the door open the next second.

The woman inside screamed and quickly hid in the man's arms.

They were both naked on the bed. The sweating man turned to look at me. His eyes widened and he pulled the blanket to cover his groin in a hurry. "Paula, why are you here?"

Staring daggers at him, I sneered and walked towards him slowly. "Didn't you say you had classes back to back? Aren't you supposed to be at football practice now? Oh my God! How did I not see it coming? I must say that this is a big surprise, Jake. If anyone had told me that you would do such a thing, I would have called that person a big fat liar!"

Jake ran his fingers through his hair. His face turned pale and he muttered, "I didn't mean..."

"What? Don't you dare tell me that you had sex with her under the influence of alcohol!" I was so mad that I badly wanted to beat both of them to a pulp.

"Who is she, Jake?" the naked woman asked innocently. "Is she your aunt? She looks tacky."

"Shut the fuck up!" Jake scolded her and pushed her away irritably. He then turned to look at me with an unremorseful expression. "Listen to me, Paula. You have to understand that I am a man. I have needs."

My blood boiled more than before when I heard this statement. "Are you serious right now? You cheated on me. But you still have the audacity to justify your actions. Are you out of your mind?"

"You have no right to judge me, Paula. We have been together for so long, but you refuse to have sex with me. How did you expect me to put up with that? I could only get down with someone willing," Jake spewed shamelessly.

I gave him a hot slap almost immediately. His audacity made me lose control of myself.

It turned out that he was a wolf in sheep's clothing. He had been deceiving me all along with his gentleness and understanding. I wanted to puke at the thought of how he made me believe he truly loved me.

"Bitch, how dare you slap me? Have you gone mad?"

In a fit of pique, Jake got out of bed. He wanted to confront me face to face. While at it, the blanket slipped off his body.

For the first time, I saw his penis. It was so small!

I averted my eyes. "That's it; we're done. It's over between us!"

"Okay, I agree. I don't want to be with you, either. Remain a virgin forever!" Jake uttered, with his arms folded over his chest. "You can never find a man as good as me, Paula!"

I sneered, turned around, and was about to leave.

But I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard the naked woman's comment that dripped with sarcasm.

"Jake, you did a good thing by getting rid of her. I'm a woman, so I know that sluts like her always love to play hard to get. Good riddance to bad rubbish!"

This statement was the last straw that broke the camel's back. I spun on my heel and walked to the bedside. I pulled the naked woman off the bed and slapped her hard.

In a bid to fight back, she pulled my hair. When I overpowered her, she cried out, "Jake, help! This woman is crazy!"

"Let her go!" Jake forcefully broke my hold on the woman and shoved me aside. Due to the force, I hit my forehead on the nightstand. It hurt.

"Paula!" Jake was so shocked that he ran to me and tried to help me up. "Are you okay?"

I pushed him away from me. Afterward, I stood up and straightened my clothes as if nothing had happened. Ignoring him completely, I walked to the door.

I picked up the bottle of wine at the doorpost just as a bell down the street rang out. It was twelve o'clock.

I paused and turned around to look at Jake. Putting on a bright smile, I said, "Happy birthday, Jake. I hope I never see you again!"

Without waiting for his reaction, I left his apartment as tears welled up in my eyes.

Two hours later

I had downed several shots of alcohol by this time at a bar. After burping for the umpteenth time, I held the hand of the woman sitting beside me and ranted, "Cindy, you know what? That woman said I look tacky. She even called me a slut!"

"What the hell! Tell me what that bitch looks like. I will send someone to beat her up. She must be taught a lesson for saying such a thing!" Cindy blurted angrily and slammed the bottom of her glass on the table. "Don't let whatever that bitch said get to you, Paula. I always had a feeling that Jake was a jerk. Those two deserve each other!"

Not cheering up at all, I took off my coat and this revealed my sexy slip dress. I gestured at my clothing and asked, "Take a look at me, Cindy. This dress doesn't look tacky at all!"

"Yeah, I agree. That bitch's eyes aren't working well. Put on your coat, good girl." Cindy was so surprised by my dress that she quickly helped me put my coat back on. "It's a good thing that you broke up with him. That jerk doesn't deserve you. I honestly do not know what you saw in him. You guys are like oil and water—not a perfect match at all. You never had sex with him, right?"

I looked at Cindy with my drunk eyes. "You also think it's my fault? I truly loved Jake. However, I was always uncomfortable whenever he touched me."

Cindy patted me on the head and consoled me. "No, I don't think it's your fault, Paula. Jake is to be blamed for this, okay?"

"I had planned to have sex with him today. It was supposed to be a surprise for his birthday, but he surprised me instead. My heart is broken!" My head reeled at this moment.

The thought of all that happened two hours ago made my heart ache. When Cindy saw that I was about to break down in tears, she pulled me up from the seat.

"No, Paula. Don't cry for that trash. He is not worth your tears. Let's hit the dance floor!"

The crystal ball light in the middle of the dance floor made my sight more unsteady. A burning sensation filled my body as the melodious music rang in my ears.

I stood there and stared at the grooving crowd.

Cindy was nowhere to be found. She had vanished into thin air.

All of a sudden, my eyes caught glimpse of a strange man who was in a distance. There were many men around me, but I was attracted to this one for some weird reason.

The man looked extraordinarily handsome under the dim light.

A second later, I noticed that he was walking towards me.
